I just had the rear windscreen replaced (on CT) after some kind soul smashed it. Some of the glass has fallen into the tailgate panel under the screen and you can hear it rattling around when you lower/raise the tailgate.

The glass repairers weren't able to do anything about it, but i was wondering if anyone knows how easy it would be to remove interior trim access the inside of the panel? I'm sure i could take it to the main dealer, but i imagine they'll want one of my kidneys. Or perhaps a body shop may be able to pop the trim out and do it without breaking things.

Any thoughts/advice?

I’m a bit more than a tinkerer - I’m a motor trader in the U.K. and do a lot of the work on cars myself, and have done ever since I was 17 (19 years ago).

It is an easy job to remove the tailgate interior trim panel, with usually only a couple of torx screws and a lot of panel clips (some of which might break on removal), most medium/large bodyshops will keep a large range of clips in stock so they can replace the ones the break.

Where abouts in the UK are you from?

Thanks. I'm in London. Do you think there are gaps in the metal panels behind the interior trim to get a vacuum into? I've done a little google exploring and it seems some cars (like my Range Rover which was also smashed ) have sealed panels.

The tailgate will definitely be sealed around where the rear windscreen is glued on, so the glass you can hear should all be inside the interior trim, and maybe a very small amount inside the cavity areas of the tailgate where you would be able to get the hoover nozzle - see attached pic of a macan tailgate (I couldn’t find any Taycan ones)

If it were me I would go with the Porsche Specialist, either company would be able to do the job but I would bet the Porsche specialist would be more careful

I decided on the body shop route as i had two cars (not both porches) that needed sorting. Unfortunately, the glass did get inside the panel. They managed to get some out after removing trim and put some glue/wax inside the panel to capture other loose bits. But sounds like access into the panel was only possible via the clip holes.
