So, it becomes apparent that the Taycan Turbo GT comes with a Race-Tex steering wheel rim. Adding ACC or Innodrive removes some steering wheel controls (no paddles or mode switch for PASM), but Race-Tex it remains.

As a long-time leather steering wheel person, I would like to ask Race-Tex rim owners for your opinions on the way it feels in your hands.

Thanks!

Have it in my car, i dont like it.. esp in summer when warm , with sweaty hands it gets dirty. its possible to clean (mine looks like new now) but still it feels sticky on your hands..

wearing driving gloves most of the time now (of course porsche originals :) ), but thinking about replacing the wheel with leather one

RaceTex is cooler in the summer; warmer to the touch in winter. However we must take care of keeping it in excellent condition with deep cleaning using SONAX. To me the question is, are we willing to periodically spend a good amount of restorative time or by nature are we conversely causal about how we keep our interiors. This video is an example of how with the right product, SONAX, and time and brushes, etc, we can keep RaceTex looking like new for close to forever IF we are not the person who wears rings (critically with sharp edges) and also tends when we are exercising our cars around corners to grip our steering wheels strongly.

I have race tex in my gt4 and leather in the Taycan. I like race tex for the occasional blast, for a daily driver I much prefer leather.

If the GT is going to be fun car and not a daily hack I’d get race tex and keep the keep the extra/unique controls.

23k miles in my 911 with RaceTex. It took some time to get used to, but it feels normal now. No issues with it so far, but it gets a regular cleaning with sonax and brush.

2021 4S with almost 20,000 miles with Race-Tex. I vacuum the car when it needs it but not obsessive and have not cleaned the Race- Tex steering wheel since delivery.............3 years ago. I guess that it shows some matting in the 10/2 hand position - the only place where I hold the steering wheel................but this is just a car that was meant to be driven and the steering wheel is just part of the 'tools' that you use to drive the car (brakes, tires, suspension, etc., the other 'tools'). Have fun with your car and drive it like it was meant to be driven and don't obsess over the small stuff - it is just a car.....................a pretty cool car..................but it is just a bunch of metal, plastic, leather, etc. that will depreciation no matter how many times you wash/clean/obsess over it. My little pea brain advice anyhow...................🏎

I don’t care about depreciation. My question was about the feel of the material.

Racetex :)

(I love it. Especially for a steering wheel - feels great, warm, grippy).

I guess that is my point - any car part is going to deteriorate over time and use. So what? Looks to me like there are three choices - (1) Don't buy it; (2) Live with it if it does deteriorate; (3) Replace the part and/or the vehicle if and when it does deteriorate. Going back to my original point - stuff wears out - buy it and enjoy the drive.

Not on a Taycan Turbo GT apparently. Local dealer posing the question to Porsche...

slippery in the cold winter when the steering heating is off.
sweaty in the summer.

if you daily drive it, skip race-tex, very nasty when dirty
