Has anyone installed a hardwired radar/laser detector like the Escort Max CI 360 in their Taycan? Wondering if anyone is having any issues with battery performance or electrical system. Please also post pics of install to show where components were installed. Looking for ideas.

As complex as everything seems I will avoid any aftermarket adjustments on my Taycan Turbo. Mine is running great but have certainly seen some bugs at least to my amateur eye so far. I just have a feeling you are inviting issues. I may be wrong because as I am very tech deficient but just seems like so many working parts and then what happens to the warranty if aftermarket is done ? Is it void? I am not sure the answer to that question.

In my other Porsches I was able to install my Valentine 1 using the Valentine Savvy OBD adapter. However in the Taycan I received a strange error message about the high voltage system when I plugged the Savvy unit in the OBD connector and the radar detector would not power on. Valentine recently released a new model. I am planning to trade in my old unit for the new model. I will try to install the detector by plugging the detector into the 12v cigarette outlet under the center armrest. I can hide the wires, avoid using the fuse box, and the 12v outlets in the Taycan switch off with the ignition. I did the same thing in my Maserati b/c the fuses are in the engine compartment not in the passenger compartment and I didn't want to go through the firewall.

Thanks for the heads-up on the new V1 model. Has anyone tried it yet? I've relied on my V1s for over 10 years, and would be interested in the upgrade.

I'll be installing the Escort 360C and ZW5 laser jammer combo hardwired. Check out the reviews, and they are by far the best combo. My dealer will be setting this up. I've had quite a bit of experience with Valentine and Escort. Valentine was the best 20 years ago, but hasn't progressed much, and at this point Escort is by far the better and more advanced technology in both areas.

You should check out the reviews on the brand new V1 Gen 2 that was recently released. In addition, there is a new detector scheduled to be released later this year by Radenso called the Theia which will use AI to truly differentiate between police radar and things like Blind Spot Monitors. I have V1s, Escorts and a Radenso Pro M. The Escorts have great range but false way too much with the BSMs. My Radenso Pro M is very silent on falses and the software and camera databases are continuously updated for free. The new V1 Gen 2 looks like a real contender. Check out rdforums.org for reviews on all the latest radar detectors and laser jammers.

I will be but am going to wait a bit. Given this is a first gen car I'm going to be a little more patient and wait till later this year or next spring before I take her apart and wire in the radar and laser system. Not to mention, it's weird not having any type of 'engine compartment' to work with. It'll be an interesting process for sure.

In the meantime I'm just going to use a Radenso Pro-M but if you have thermally insulated glass you may be better off with the Uniden R7 as it's got much better range than the Pro-M but doesn't filter out false alarms or detect multaradar like the Pro-M. Everything is a trade off. I hope I don't regret the range factor as I have thermal glass. My gamble here is the smaller footprint of the Pro-M will fit nicely in the 'window' Porsche has in the windshield for toll-pass devices.

The final product likely will be Radenso RC-M and AL-Priority. Both are generally recognized as the technology leaders in their respective spaces (radar and LIDAR). AL-Priority came out I think about 6 years ago and still to this date no other laser system has been able to get their hardware design caught up to match. There are cities that use LIDAR that if you don't have AL-Priority then you might as well not have anything. A system that makes you feel like your covered but can't react to the particular LIDAR handsets in your area is a dangerous combination.

So the Taycan is like my old Tesla in that the only area of the windshield for radar detectors/tolls/gate openers etc is in the small window near the mirror? ugh, I hated that about my tesla...

That's what I'm seeing from comments in forums as well as the manual. But you don't have to get the thermal glass - If I recall, when I built my Taycan that was an option.

Thanks for the topic.
I have V1's in hardwired/custom mounted w/remotes in all the cars.....have one waiting for the Tay when sh's back from some mods.
Two main questions will be......1.) where are the ignition-on power sources, and 2.) The glass......will it work, front/back/side.

Unless I'm missing something, the Escort 360 and ZW5 are by far the best combination of laser jammer and radar detector for hardwired installation. If I'm wrong, let me know where the reviews are that say otherwise. The reviews you're referring to are purely radar detection, and they don't look at hardwired pairings of jammers/detectors, which you'll need to have if you want the noise cancelling glass on the Taycan.

Actually the AL Priority is the leading LIDAR and has been for years. Escort will probably be ok if you’re not up against newer lidar handsets. You need to read up on enthusiast reviews that are doing field tests. Those are your best source of information. The forum posted above is one of the best I’ve seen.
