Yeah, more and more states in the US are making them illegal as well. Which is actually one thing that makes me hesitate to install them on the Taycan. My luck, they'd pass a law where I live 4 monnths later.

Just remember, laser detection means you got caught. Sadly. Good luck out there!
If you figure out a good layout for the ALP on the Taycan please share it. The Stinger is too expensive for my needs. I have outdated Escort shifters in two of my other cars. The dragon eye units are used a lot in my area. An installer in my area is still installing the Blinder jammers which are just as bad as the K40 against current lidar.

I know if I was a cop and the gun displayed an error I’d pull over the driver to take a look at the car. If he found a jammer. Oh no!
That's another thing that separates the good systems from the bad. Bad systems just jam - even sometimes sending a jam signal. The good systems send back a signal that's close enough but not a lock so it just feels like they aren't getting a good shot. You have to slow down and turn off the system (which is why proper installed systems have a power button readily accessible) so they get a read of you and then move on to someone else.

Today I played around with performance testing which means I needed to mount my VBox in the windshield. Prime time to play around a bit as it's got a very sensitive GPS antenna. It was like turning a light switch on and off... moving the VBox outside the window vs. in the windshield space next to the door. The shaded areas next to the mirror though worked perfectly. So I moved my windshield mounted radar detector to one side and the VBox to the other. For those needing a picture, here's where it works. And my radar detector is much more chatty now. I do not really have the gear to figure out how much is still getting blocked but I was picking up police cars at a pretty good distance so it's better than it was.

Interesting. So what’s the best and do you know if they are as efficient in the UK?

Honestly not sure what the story is in the UK. Could be different gear there. AL Priority has been the top dog in the US for probably 5 years. Used to be LI or Laser Interceptor but they seemed to have fizzled out when the DragonEye system hit the market and they couldn't get their system to detect it let alone jam it. Anywho, I'd poke around AL Priority as they do have global distributors. The 2nd but pretty damn expensive is Stinger. They use these small little single LED so it's the best for hidden but also the hardest to install b/c you have to ensure they are dead level with the street.

Thanks........very poor info on K40's site.
So the lights tell you right-left or what?........is there a mute button somewhere to dismiss or acknowledge an alert?
They indicate front and back, the remote - controls on/off, mute and options etc.

Here you go, whilst there’s lots of debate on capability, the latest model seems fairly effective from recent experience!! Obviously it’s hard Installed.

Sorry, I am having a difficult time seeing how/where your license plate is located (this is the front, correct)? Is there any way you can take a photo further back from the car?

I'd guess that's the rear plate, the front sensors can be seen in the bottom corners of the first pic

Has anyone done a Rodenso/AL Priority custom install? I'm trying to figure out where to place the "remote" display unit and button controls without it
Its hidden behind the dash, two blue LED lights installed in top of steering column indicate direction, all alerts are voice and tone, with a remote for mute, config etc...I did not want anything to be in sight.
Keith, can you please post a picture of where you had the LED lights installed?

This is my planned configuration too. I need to get out there and measure some things to see how this would work. The TX heads have a minimum height from the ground that could be problematic.

Yes, the TX sensor has to be 21" above ground - so can't do the TX on the front - maybe the rear. David, where are you thinking of putting the interior display unit and controls?
