A friend and I just did a 120 mile drive in a caravan with little traffic encountered en route to our destination. My 21 T4S was delivered Dec 21. I have 11,000 miles. My friends CT4S was delivered May 22 with 1500 miles. We both left at 98% SoC.

Temps were 89 degrees, hot humid FL weather. Speeds were typical FL highway speeds. 😉

We used a combination of Range, Sport and Sport Plus during the drive. We keep In constant communication via walkie talkies.

We each have current software updates applied.

We arrived at our destination with 104 and 108 miles respectively.

I’m pleased that from this simple test, it appears that there has been little to no battery degradation after 11,000 miles on my T4S.

Disclamer - of course this not scientific so let’s not go down that dialogue course.

Just a fun observation I thought I’d report.

Curious to know the estimated miles on both cars at 98% SoC as well as the miles lost to overhead compared to the 120 miles driven.

so your projected range is 250 miles based on 120 actual miles. That seems a bit on the high side. what was your speed? Doing about 80 mph for about 70% of my 108 miles trip, and city driving the rest, I could only muster out about 190 projected miles. It was all on sport mode with the AC on eco though.

That seems about right in my experience

To be exact, my final percentage at the destination was 48% remaining.

My max range forecast varies significantly by how I have driven in the prior week. For example, prior to my road trip, I drove several very moderate trips around town ranging from 3.3 to 3.5 mi/kWh. These told the car that based on these numbers @ 100% SoC, I would get about 240 miles total range.

My highway actual efficiency on the trip was around 2.6 mi/kWh and I expect that my total actual range would have been around 220 miles.

hmmm, I haven't seen anything over 2.8 mi/kWh yet. I am taking a longer trip tomorrow, and according to ABRP, I'd be using 90% of my batteries. I am planning on using the range mode this time. Lets see if I can get over 200 miles this time. It's just a test for me because there's no way I'll use range mode in the future just to get more miles...that's just no fun.

if you're on a longer trip you'd be well advised to put it in range mode...otherwise the rear motors will never decouple (in sport) and you'll never get the best possible range. You're just burning up charge for the sake of it at that point, I'd say.

there are quite a few videos showing Taycans making well more than 250 and in some cases over 280 miles on highway drives. sub 300 wh/mi seems easy to do if you're on a long cruise. though in TX I'm sure it's harder to do with those 80 mph speed limits!

I went out and did a relatively quick test on 101 S, south of San Jose. about 20ish miles at 70-something degrees, in range mode, with cruise set at 74, and got 268 wh/mi.

the other day I did a bit of a cruise in mild traffic, averaging 65 mph (slowwwwww) in range mode, and got 230 wh/mi. ABRP asks for the wh/mi at 65 mph to calibrate its own logic for range, so I was trying to get some half decent numbers to throw into there for my own purposes.

very impressed by the real vs rated efficiency, since as well know, those EPA numbers are bogus.

Yeah, I’m not seeing 3.5 mi/kWh, but then again, my average speed over 500 miles of driving today was north of 70MPH with plenty of Range mode kick-downs. 😉
