Manual charge port doors - side door rock protection idea?

Question to owners without the power chart port cover doors (the manual door flaps).


How many of you have experienced rocks and gravel flying thru the air flow passages leading to rock damage on your doors?

Instead of going the more expensive route of installing PPF on the side doors I'm considering installing a some kind of fine weave mesh screen on the inner fender well areas covering the air flow channels, (similar to the material used in GT car front bumpers to protect the radiatiors).

What's your thoughts on this idea? ?

No damage on mine (no PPF in that area either - front only) at almost 6k miles.

No issues around the ports/doors at 8500 miles...and I did take a spray of gravel directly to the face.

Suncoast sells the OE piece to block the vents. My car has complete body PPF so I'm not worried about front door damage.
