While the GTS Taycan comes with smoothed, gloss painted black ones, I believe all the rest come with mildly textured flat black plastic. Please correct me if I am wrong for my upcoming, incoming 4 S which will have gloss black paint on everything else so factory order-able.

If that is all on mine that is not gloss black, as I do lots of mods, planning on removing every piece, hand sanding to smooth, then having my body shop paint them gloss black to match, top layer being clear coat.

Anyone removed them or have pictures/schematics/directions on removing them? With this project be challenging, or just ”back side” securing clips or nuts removal and then re-securing.

Thoughts/info please. Thanks

There is no GTS Cross Turismo variant. All Sport Turismo variants do not have the plastic arches.

The plastic add-ons can be painted with effort but at a significant cost. The Turbo S CT has gloss black painted arches.

If you don't like the plastic don't get the Cross - 20 mm additional clearance isn't a decider IMHO.

Search the forum for posts on painting and removal.

He has a 4S CT. Also, in the US there are no ST variants other than the GTS.

An alternative approach would be to replace the arches with the CT Turbo S versions. (I considered both, my lazy self persuaded me that gloss black looks a little odd around the arches, as it does on my CT Turbo Aeros (so in both cases, satin might look better), while having some contrasting non-bodywork colour helps the CT look less bulky in profile than the ST- though I note that @bsclywilly's ORD package also achieves that effect. So one year later, I'm still living with the knobbly raw plastic, which does look sub-optimal close up.)

It isn't the extra clearance that decided it for me, it was the increased bump travel.

I don't like the look of the black plastic trim but the extra 20mm of bump travel was the decider for me on our dire roads.

I had a damaged arch so ordered a replacement from porsche and a garage used a tool to pry off the old one and stick down the new one with porsche 3M double sided tape.. .i guess i could have attempted myself but didn't have the tools for it. was about 3 mins of work...

Our 2021 RAV4 Prime came standard with gloss painted wheel arches. They looked great when new, still do three years and 38,000 miles later. That look, to my wife an me, is why we are going to get to the same finish line for our CT 4S.

Big thanks to W1NGE, bsclywilly, Wuffvon Trips, Gnasher, and others for your good input/info, we will somehow do same for our CT 4S.

Now I am going to check out same subject threads of others. I like the helpfulness of folks on this forum.

I have a huge thread on my mods incl painted arches (from 2021-2022) there are literally dozens of threads on this topic in the forum - whole process cost under $1000 at a local custom shop so hardly a ‘huge’ cost imo and indeed could prob half that if doing the prep work yourself.

example link - a link to main mods thread embedded:

ciaranob, super nice upgraded look to your car. Definitely going to do mine in gloss black/clear coat to the wheel arches to match the rest.

Questions please for you/all….

Any tips on removing just the arches plastic pieces to begin with, e.g., just needing traditional pry tool on back side; clips accessible fairly easily; any nuts, etc? Any schematics as to their location?

Hand sanding suggestions? Grade/type of sandpaper?

Thank you all very much.
