So...
Last Sunday my son (10) begged me to take him skiing. We live in West LA, 125 miles from Big Bear (which is also the top of a mountain).
I agreed. And we drove, mostly on the freeway to Snow Summit in Big Bear. 125 miles. 41% remaining when we got to the slopes.
Four hours of (slightly more exhausting for me) skiing later we were done.
Back in the car, the battery percentage had dropped to 39%. Could we get back?
SatNav said "no" and wanted to route us via an EV charger. I reckoned "yes".
The first bit of the journey was ups and downs on the mountain. My battery remaining dropped to 34%. I switched range mode on.
Given that it was mostly downhill from this point, I turned regen on to auto. (Which is terrifying, by the way, as it turned regen on to avoid us rear ending the car in front.)
At the bottom of the hill, I had
