@DerekS, I'm assuming you already figured this out, but the NAV planning is likely going to have issue is you set the destination to your final stop for the day. What worked for me when I did my PNW to Texas trip was the set my destination for each leg for a destination that's 2-3 stop away, then at each stop set the destination accordingly as well.
hmmm, why can't you set the final destination for the day? I haven't taken a trip yet, so was just wondering. Does it become too inaccurate if you set destination that's too far away from your starting point?

Best of luck on your trip @DerekS! I was going to suggest you cut across California to the coast and drive up the 101/1 instead of driving the mind numbing 5 freeway, but I recognize that day 2 is an estimated 11+ hours already. Perhaps next time!

Also, I see you are ending in Los Gatos. I just did a great drive on the backroads around there last week, let me know if you'll have time to go on a joyride and I'll pass along the route.

My experience with the planner an year ago when I was doing my long distance drive from the Washington to Texas and back is that the longer the distance the longer it takes for the planner to plan the route and it will even likely to timeout. Makes sense because the computer is trying to explore a lot of potential paths.

Now keep in mind, I was pushing 13-14 hours of driving in a single day which a pretty long distance. There was a day when I was pushing 20+ hours going from Denver to Seattle(~1,400 miles). What I was doing was by no means normal.

Ahh I see. I used to do that while I was in college and couldn’t afford a motel room. These days I try to keep to 7 hours or less per day.

Things don't always go as you plan, and that's OK on a road trip!

My plan was to charge at home to 100%, leave at 4:45, hit the local Starbucks and depart Frisco at 5AM.

I ended up waking up a little early and was pacing back and forth waiting for my home charger to finish...and it turns out Starbucks opens at 6AM on Saturday, not 5.

So, I set out sans caffeine.

Along the way the car kept trying to get me to charge at this Tillman County Courthouse would would have been a 2.5 hour charge...no thanks! I had my plan of Hilton in Lawton and stuck to it.

Eventually it got in sync with my plan and I rolled in to find two banks of chargers, short and tall. I guess tall would be the faster ones and I was right, getting a nice 130kW charge.

I suspect these chargers are 400 volt and I'm taking advantage of my 150kW/400V charger option here.

This is a decent stop, restrooms and breakfast available inside the hotel.

This leg had some unexpected drama. On traveling to the Erick station on 283, I made a wrong turn (but did not realize it.). The GPS tried to recover, and suggested a left turn onto an unpaved dirt road. "No way" I said, and waited for the next suggestion...also a dirt road. At this point I was really stressing out on what to do...as I kept going north the GPS against suggested an unpaved road and this time (with severe range anxiety) I took it.

For 4 nerve-wracking miles I drove about 8mph over this mess:

I was terrified the whole time that oncoming traffic would happen and I'd be sprayed with gravel. Somehow the fates smiled and this did not happen. I passed a farmer who gave a friendly if somewhat confused wave.

When I arrived at the charger in Erick my first concern (after initiating the charge) was damage control. Everything was covered in dust and I had no idea what damage if any the gravel did.

Fortunately I packed some detailing gear so I gave the car a partial wipedown with quick detailer and was relieved things seem to be ok.

Charging stopped at 83% and would not resume on a second attempt. I believe this charger was enforcing the "amount needed for next stop" marker as a hard stop.

This leg was smooth, no issues. I did not get a photo here.

Ah, you updated it. I was confused about running through 89% SoC over 127 miles :D

(Checks for cops...) I know you drive fast, but that did seem off.

Hope the trip goes smoothly, my man!

Easy leg! Smooth roads, good 350kW charger.

One hiccup though, the PCM took a map update and now it lost all the chargers and can't find them on its own. Good thing I mapped the route in advance and can enter them manually.

I just reset the nav to my destination and it seems to have sorted itself back out.

Another easy leg! Smooth roads, good 350kW charger. I really like the chargers at Love's, nice for snacks/bathroom etc.
