I am being told by my dealer that there is no free service for the Taycan 4S, tho I thought the first service at 20,000 miles/or 2 years was free. They are asking for $815 for a service contract for the first 20k miles/2 years (up from $770 due to inflation I guess) and $1820 for the 40,000 mile service/4 years. Does this sound right? I am also aware that Porsche will tie their "warranty" to this service, so if I do not obey the Master, I have no warranty.

Aside from flushing the brakes every 2 years, everything else is a visual inspection. Pretty smelly to me. Any comments?

"On the Taycan models there is no service given from Porsche.

Plus 2 (20K) Plus 4 (40,000) Plus 6 (60,000)

Taycan4S $815 $1,820 $4,975

Taycan Turbo $890 $1,890 $5,930

This does included a set of brakes." (at 60,000 miles)

for brakes - MEASURE your brakes to see how much life is left - dealers love just replacing everything if one part goes out. With our Cayenne the front brake light just needed front pads vs every corner. no rotors, rear pads last 2 sets of fronts and rotors 2-3 pad sets. If you go to the dealer measure and tell them what to do - dont let them bully you ;)

IIRC its just the cabin air filter and brake flush every 2 yrs or 20k miles.
I'd be surprised if the Taycan needs brakes in 60k mikes.

This is no 'free service' at least in UK but there is a published service schedule

Search the forum as there was quite a debate on costs and the reality was quite a bit cheaper than quoted.

I thought that in the US you can use whomever you chose to service your vehicle and as long as you follow the service schedule outlined by Porsche with documentation and duplicate the required service actions therein, they have no legal claim to mess with your warranty - correct?

My dealer quoted me $770 on my CT4 purchase last week for the 2 year service, and there wasn't even an option on the 4 year.

I said no because I bought out of town and my local dealer is even cheaper for the 2 year Taycan service. I think they flush the breaks and replace the bottle of fix-a-flat.

I would not touch a service contract with any manufacturer.

This. I think any of the insurance or services they try and sell you in finance are borderline scams. There's a reason these are on offer, and the margins they make on them are fantastic.

My step father worked finance for Lexus for two decades always warned my family and I off of any finance offerings. He made a successful career selling these to people on thousands of sales, but said he would never touch them himself.

I think that is the case. I will give the Porsche guys the first service, but after that, will try an alternative. Seems like way too much money for doing almost nothing. And who knows, the actual charge may be significantly less than the insurance quote.

I generally agree but one exception I have found is that Audi Care always costs much less than the service appointments for the car, and considering I will use the dealer its the only one I get. But that applies more to ICE cars, I did grab it for the RS ETron but it probably wasn't worth it.

Also I am curious did something change or is it a US thing, my TTS had the service included.

It really is. I think Porsche knows their heavy service model is in jeopardy with the transition to EV's.

I sort of get why someone might want to finance their service plan on their ICE cars, especially specialty cars like a Porsche that have different engine locations and use unique tools. Even then it's still a rip off, but on an EV there really isn't much to do. Rotate your tires and take care of you battery.

They want to charge 800 bucks to basically replace your Tire Sealant, which costs you $95 if you order it yourself from Sun Coast, and flush the breaks. Total scam.

No, its Taycan specific. I did a google to verify. All their ICE vehicles still do this as a free service at 20,000 or 2 years.

You may be right as the dealers price quote did not show the turbo S, nor the rwd. Good luck to you!
