As winter approaches, here is a travel log of our weekend trips around Ireland. Hopefully along the way, we leave useful info for anyone planning a EV road-trip in our small country.
All day report posts:
Weekend #1: Dromoland Castle (Day 1)
Weekend #1: Dromoland Castle (Day 2)
Weekend #1: Dromoland Castle (Day 3)
Weekend #2: Ballynahinch Castle (Day 1)
Weekend #2: Ballynahinch Castle (Day 2)

Weekend #1: Dromoland Castle (Day 1)
We leave Dublin – with a full overnight charge at our home – after work at 16.30 to head west across the country for a weekend at Dromoland Castle. It's a comfortable 230km along motorways and the weather is typical Ireland – dry between the heavy showers. The trip is uneventful and we spend most of it listening to The Drop Out on the built in Apple Podcasts player.
We arrive at our hotel just before the sunset – with a long drive up to the castle among the deer. Opportunities to test our Night Vision Assist later ?
The castle was built in 1835 on the site of a tower house from the 15th century.
We quickly locate our destination charger – right outside the hotels reception.
Quickly getting power at a healthy full 22kW.
Check-in is friendly and efficient and we're quickly walking among the castle's tapestries.
Tomorrow we explore Burren National Park – a very unique area of Ireland.
The days charging stats:
Today we did 229km over 2:47 hours, with an average speed of 83km/h, consuming 23.0 kWh/100km.
