I love it and turn it on every time, both because it adds to the experience inside the cabin and also living in Manhattan, lets all of the pedestrians on street corners who cross against the light know that there's a car coming and to look before crossing in front of me.For all the people who love it, I wonder how many of you have stood outside while someone drove by you with it on. It sounds so phony and it’s fairly obvious that it’s a speaker noise and not the drivetrain.
The first time a Taycan drove by me with it on, it was so loud and fake that it just screamed ‘look at me!’ To me it’s akin to people who think the loud pipes on their moto makes them cool, when most people just think they’re a douche canoe. It’s the brap brap brap of EVs.
You can use individual to save the setting. Just twist the dial when you get in and it’ll remember next time. Now that I have it I probably would not bother again. Not so much that I don’t like it / want it but mor me to do with actually having to switch it on. I’d assumed it’s was defaulted to “always on” or at least saved in settings.
At least the backup camera is useable, accurate, and clear on the Tesla. Can’t say the same on the Taycan. It’s actually pretty difficult to park using its backup camera. Now, what sounds fake but is actually extremely annoying is the sound of a Tesla in reverse. To make matters worse, it seems majority of Tesla drivers somehow forgot you're allowed to park front end in, but insist parking backwards 100% of the time, using only the backup camera for guidance, which then leads to a 3-try reverse park strategy. Please spare us from that sound!!!
Am I sensing some possible regret about leaving this off your build? When I had a demo of the Taycan I switched the sport sound off after about 30 seconds, and the same even at the PEC Silverstone driving fast. I didn't bother to spec it on my CT4S as a result.
If you do like it do you leave it on most of the time though, or only in certain circumstances?
Not at all, I am absolutely gobsmacked by the number of people who use it, even if it came free I would never switch it on, personally.Am I sensing some possible regret about leaving this off your build?
Maybe we can do an age sub-analysis and see what kind of results we get.Not at all, I am absolutely gobsmacked by the number of people who use it, even if it came free I would never switch it on, personally.
There wasn't a glimmer of attraction in it to me at all.
In my own case, my younger self used to enjoy having my favourite music on whatever I was doing, whereas nowadays I find it an annoying distraction from whatever else I'm doing. I still enjoy music-loud, but only when I can devote my attention to it. ESS is literally just noise to me and interferes with whatever else I want to be listening to (including all the real sounds a car makes that provide useful feedback when driving).Maybe we can do an age sub-analysis and see what kind of results we get.
It could be the older crowd may dislike the sound more vs. the younger.
Makes sense given the desire for a quieter atmosphere as we get older.
