And thus endeth my time in the Bay Area. A wonderful visit with a group of friends last night, and now I resume heading southward towards the San Diego corner.

New charging record seen: 252 kW at an Electrify America station.

Also... Manufacturing plates on a Tesla... because Palo Alto.

Hi from Portugal! Great Trip! From your use do you think its easier to use the frunk or the trunk on a daily basis?

I wave my hand at the Frunk lid, and it always takes a couple tries to get it to open. The Trunk is a button; simple.

The Frunk is small.
The Trunk is large.

I keep winter emergency supplies in the Frunk (snow shovel, snow trax, sand, etc) and the portable charger.
The Trunk is full of... everything else.

I think I will use the trunk more, just because it is larger and I have many years of habit.

But... I hate that the trunk makes a loud beeping noise as it opens and as it closes. It’s going to wake my neighbors. It’s horrible and piercing. It sounds like a garbage truck backing up. It’s an annoyance every single time I open (and close) it. Did I mention I don’t like it?

How is range/efficiency now that you are traveling in warmer weather on the highway?

I do the SF-LA trip a couple times a year, so am curious about that. Did you take the 5 or the scenic route?

thanks

Range is upwards of 230 in the warmer climate.

Calculated Range (battery% at end of session vs Indicated range for that percentage) after each of the past several Charging Sessions:

222
236
215
225
222
220
233

I’m taking 101 South.

Just joined up as I've been following you since the early days in Canada. Interesting read so far and a great road trip.

BTW....Ask about the BEEP noise at a dealership. On the Macan the rear hatch beep volume can be adjusted via PIWIS (even to zero to effectively turn it off). YMMV

Hanging out with Linda—a fellow ActiveE driver from our past (2012-2014)—in Morro Bay. She went Tesla. I went Porsche. It’s all good.

Her cat seems kinda judgmental though.

Sometimes the conversations at charging stations get very interesting. As does the hardware.

Thanks Dave (electrician, installer, provisioner, and repair guy), good to meet you!

You can use your foot to open the trunk, too!

As you are getting closer to AZ, I just wanted to let you know the offer still stands. Free lunch when you are in the Phoenix/Scottsdale Area.

Yes, I had my dealerships turn off the rear hatch beeping sound in both my Panamera and my 2019 Macan. I have no clue why Porsche has this annoying feature.

Perhaps the cat is not too keen on you appropriating a cousins name on your license plate?

Are you saying you can literally wave your hand to open the frunk - there's an optical sensor that disengages the latch? I did not know that. Too bad it doesn't just automatically disengage the latch when the car isn't moving. I think Teslas do that (?).
