If you are looking for some nice driving routes in that area, I would appreciate if you had a look at my mobile app.

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/be/app/unrestricted/id1446441973?l=nl
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.bbconsulting.unrestricted&hl=en_US

It has PCH, but also less known roads like Route 33. I'm not from the area, so I'd love your feedback.
And if you, by any chance, take pictures along those roads, I would love to use them on my Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/unrestricted.eu/
Sure. I’ll check it out when I have some down time.

Had a great morning at the Porsche Experience Center in LA. Shawn, my “coach” was excellent in helping me experience their Taycan on summer tires! Wet skid pads, short road course, kick plate recovery, and LAUNCH CONTROL.

Three runs in a row: 0-120mph at full throttle! Holy crap!!! <great big smiles> ...and a touch of nausea. It’s such a violent launch, it is physically taxing.

No pictures from the driving part. Sorry. I was otherwise occupied!

And great to meet DarthAmerica in person!

Went for a ride in “Ike” today.

A slightly different experience than an electric Porsche Taycan.

My friends have cool cars.

The folks at Beverly Hills Porsche were great. Even though I dropped in without an appointment, they pulled the latest logs from the car to send to Germany. They even washed the car so it’s super shiny for the visit to the Porsche Experience Center tomorrow. (Or so some peacocks can attack it)

Had a great dinner in Santa Monica with a co-worker from way back. Catching up with friends is what this adventure is all about.

I love it at PECLA. The short road course is so much fun! That's awesome that they already have a Taycan experience available... or was this a special program just for you? I'll be sure to sign up for a Taycan session next time I'm down.

The Taycan experience was NOT just for me. Probably. Maybe. Most likely. Kidding, it was clearly not just for me as there was another owner (to be?) in a Turbo S.

Both of our cars (on track) were pre-production vehicles.

I think the dealership has to request the Experience for you. But really I have no idea how the process works. Someone (Paul?) asked where I bought my car. Then the next day someone from PECLA called to ask when I was available.

Most of the owners there were driving 911 cars.

@louv pretty cool you posted on the tesla owners club welcome there, I have a question how expensive are the fast chargers that Porsche has put out ? is it by time or by kw/hr, or did they throw in some free charging with the floor mat sort of thing. Im am just curious.

Range is upwards of 230 in the warmer climate.

Calculated Range (battery% at end of session vs Indicated range for that percentage) after each of the past several Charging Sessions:

222
236
215
225
222
220
233

I’m taking 101 South.

Don,

Do you have a way to track the average driving speeds for these distances? The farthest I have achieved in my Tesla Model X Performance is 297 miles averaging 65 mph under ideal conditions (60 to 70 degrees and no wind all highway driving).

The ranges you are achieving in the Taycan are very promising. I am looking forward to the all electric Macan from Porsche. I am simply too tall, heavy, grumpy, and stubborn to drive a sedan as a daily driver. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I love the ease of getting in and out of an SUV.

How is the glass roof holding up in the Californian sun? Does the car get very hot when parked (or driving)?

Thanks!

It's good that the Tesla Model 3 preceded the Taycan. Don's experience gives us a chance to experience a sports sedan at the high end of the price spectrum. Porsche's quality has always been supreme, but I'm thankful for my California built Model 3 is providing so much joy. Never thought I would experience automobile advancements like this in my lifetime.

At breakfast today there was a beautiful Australian Cattle dog under the table next to us. Well, she was under their table until she jumped up next to me and then crawled into my lap.

Overly friendly doggy; not really well behaved, but super sweet and I not only enjoyed it, I encouraged the bad behavior. I asked if I could take her home to Maine. Sadly, the answer was No.

ElectrifyAmerica chargers are kind of expensive... if you were paying retail prices. (Of course they are super fast in the right conditions, and are very expensive to install, so the investment must be recovered somehow)

Porsche includes your first 30 minutes of any session for free. Most sessions are less than 30 minutes... unless your car’s battery is too cold to accept a very high speed DC charge... or the charging station is only 50kW (a rarity found only in Carlsbad, CA so far)

In a few years most states will be switching to a per kWh billing system (which in my opinion makes far more sense) but almost everyone currently bills by time for historic legal reasons. (Why? Overly-Simplified answer: it used to be illegal for anyone other than a power utility to sell electricity, so we were buying Time, not power)

I don’t have an easy way to track average speed. The car does track average speed (as discussed earlier) but their averages seem to include time parked. Or maybe time parked while the vehicle is On (which is often how I sit at a charge session)

A bunch of random Examples below. This data is available in the smartphone Connect App: (the last one is the overall average since new)
