Tomorrow begins a couple of long haul days across the Southwest. (San Diego to Marfa, TX) I expect to have some free time to answer more questions, if you’ve still got any.
Question: is there anything the car won’t let you do while you’re driving? Such as entering a destination in the nav?

Thanks!

Experimenting. Sleeping in the car tonight. I’ve pulled off the freeway, down a dirt road, parked on what I think is BLM land.

I passed 3 or 4 Border Patrol SUVs on my way in here, so I fully expect a visit in the night.

All my gear is in the front seats. The back seats are down, the front seats pushed fully forward. The mattress fits nicely in the back. My feet in the trunk.

Lights out. Hey... what’s that blinking green light every 5 seconds? Oh! That’s the “I’m trapped in the trunk, push this button to let myself out!” light. Hmmm... a little gaffers tape and that’s taken care of.

Night night.

Yes, there are some settings that can’t be changed while the car is in motion. Nothing really critical. Most things can be changed.

The Nav keyboard can’t be used, but you can use voice or draw out the letters of words on the touchpad.

I will differ here little bit with you. There are too many settings that are disabled during driving that are actually useful. It’s way too conservative and can cause issues. For example there is no way to change interior brightness at night while driving. The settings disabled. That makes no sense because if I need to turn the lights down as it gets darker I shouldn’t have to going to park. Same with how much is disabled in Apple CarPlay. It’s more dangerous to try to do things manually when the CarPlay selection is disabled.

None of my other cars are this aggressive. It’s the one weak point of the car I found so far.

Hi
Nice to see the battery temperature! You told me on Facebook that you can heat the battery driving hard, but have you tried just to put the drive mode into sport+ and see that happens? I think it will heat the battery for high performance, and therefore also perfect temp for charging.

What a great shot Don!
Lol, that's pure luck I guess...
Nostalgia and future of cars in just one pic!
Epic!
A great shot is equal parts being prepared, seeing the opportunity, and editing out the other ten shots that weren’t as good.

Yes. I tried just putting it in Sport+. It didn’t seem to heat the battery fast enough. Also, at that time, I wasn’t driving hard. I’m not sure about it. Maybe I was just impatient.

Nothing went bump in the night.
No visitors. No bears. No space aliens. (Roswell is 175 miles north east of here)

The mattress is fairly comfortable. I do need a better pillow though.

The lights of the freeway can be seen in the distance but not really heard. Sadly it was overcast all night, so no stars were visible through the expansive sun roof.

In all, a “thumbs up” to the silly experience.

Been there and done that, too. Although the "been there" was Chattanooga and there were no Border Patrol SUVs.
Sleep well out there in the pitch black?

EDIT: Well, sorry, I was quoting and replying just as you were answering the questions I had.

Arrived in Marfa. Haven’t explored yet. Need food. Breakfast was gas station OJ, and Porsche-powered double espresso. Stopping to grab lunch.

I met a guy at a charging station. He was on a road trip too. He’s from Washington state. Driving a Chevy bolt. I’m on snow tires. He’s running studded tires. He plans to go skiing in the Rockies on the way home.
