And I'm probably one of the few people, like you, who'd buy a Taycan and actually sleep in it like you're doing with the seats down, in the middle of the desert. ... So I just smile when I see your putting your mattress out and wishing for the clouds to part so that you can see the stars through the panoramic roof...

Today I had a tour of the Chinati Foundation here in Marfa, Texas. I saw some of the permanent installations of art by Donald Judd, Irwin, Flavin, and Chamberlain.

No photography was allowed of the art. It really is something that would be challenging to convey in photos, though my inner photographer was occasionally screaming to be let loose.

Leaving Marfa. My “porch” was covered in ice, the frozen remains of last night’s storms. The car, too was an icicle. Good thing I have winter tires, eh?

I stopped to see the pulloff where the Marfa Lights can be observed. I didn’t see them. Four vehicles had clearly camped there last night. Maybe I could have, as well. Nah, my trailer was much warmer.

Beautiful sunrise. And off I go, to San Antonio.

Sigh. Another morning. 3 hours into the drive and the Nav still thinks it’s in a Gasoline car. I can’t search for EV charging stations.

PORSCHE... Are you listening?!? PLEASE FIX THIS. If you fix nothing else, please fix this.

(also... speed averages shouldn’t count time where the car is in park! My average is probably around 80.)

Is this true? There are conflicting reports on this. Do you have to have InnoDrive selected before the adaptive cruise control uses posted speed signs to vary car speed? Or, as per Don's post above, do you just have to have ACC or "Limiter" selected?

Upgrading to InnoDrive from ACC is an extra $1,800 which I would rather spend on sexier rims...if the only thing InnoDrive provides is lane keeping, Steer assist, and intersection assist not worth it to me...put if it is absolutely required to have the car vary speed based on speed signs, I need to know.

Is there a user manual that came with the Taycan that walks you through InnoDrive?

Marfa lights: if you don't at first see the lights, just take another swig - or another toke. You'll eventually see them.

Charging locations: PlugShare is by far the best I've used. Accuracy depends on users checking in to update the location.
Good mobile app.

Tesla's on-board charging location software is pretty good, but not always accurate. (Fort Stockton shows to be inoperative - but it is not.)
Seems no one at Tesla is held accountable for updating Supercharger status.

Your "cosmic" stay must have conjured something: 77mph at 7777miles. There has to be some significance. Lots of sevens in that shot.

I did not see the Marfa lights. Can’t drink and drive. Or toke. Oh well, another time!

a good race in an EV requires great chargers. I’ll check it out!

I had three charges between Marfa and San Antonio: Fort Stockton, Ozona, and Junction. All ElectrifyAmerica stations.
