@louv Thanks for this fabulous thread. A non technical question - are you (or, sorry, more accurately, is the car!) attracting lots of attention everywhere you go? And if so is it mainly car nerds (like us?!) or general public won over by the car's looks?

I know that when I'm out with my labradoodle I suddenly become much more interesting to all sorts of people and wonder if the Taycan is going to have the same effect
I bet you are right, louv, send some more pics, haven't been to that area of Canada

Drop me a message when you arrive in Vancouver - I'll buy you lunch!
Ok. If I have time. I’m juggling a few visits. Thx.

Yes. The car is certainly attracting attention. Pretty much every time I’m plugged in and charging, someone comes over to chat about electric cars.

These Petro-Canada stations are quite new. I keep hearing, “I think you’re the first person to use this.”

But everyone acknowledges that “electric cars are the future.”

No one really cares who I am. It’s about the car. :)

I’m out here being an EV Ambassador. Every time I stop to recharge, someone walks up and starts a conversation about Electric Cars and these new Charging Stations and how long does it take to charge etc. I love it. I’ll love it more when the conversations happen in a warmer climate!!!

It’s been a smooth day so far. Two charges, no issues. (Other than the Nav taking an hour to wake up in the mornings... grrr)

Amusement: listening to music between books, and ELO’s “Big Wheels (keep on turning)” comes on, and segues into Tony Bennett singing “ I left my heart in San Francisco”.

So, here’s some pretty. It’s a beautiful drive from Sault Ste. Marie to Marathon.

@louv, what a great journey you are on! You are covering in the midst of winter, twice the distance I had planned for a Taycan.
It is fantastic to hear about your journey and adventure since this is what I think the car was designed for.

I see so many saying that an EV will be their daily driver, charge at home and drive 30 miles to the office, return and charge again at home. That is fine if that is your use case, but you certainly do not need a Taycan for that.

PS love to see that you had time to get the car cleaned as well!

Interesting how you mounted your front plate was that done by the dealer? Is the car already set up for mounting in that location.

The snow washed the car.
And now it’s dirty again.

That’s my hack. It’s a photo of the real plate, scaled to 50% height, printed onto heavy photo paper, then laminated. The attached with double stick tape.

So far, one international border crossing, and no problems. The border guard was more interested in the fact that it had charge ports on both sides.
