FYI: charging to 100% all the time is not recommended by porsche unless you plan to immediately drive the car to "burn" off the high SOC

I know, I only charge the car over night with a timer, when I play golf the next morning. The drive to the club eats the top 12-15% of the battery charge, then we are in safe territory and the battery never holds the 100% charge for more then one or two hours.

Interesting. I’ve only known cold weather since Nov’20 but have higher expectations for range in our Scottish “summer” when it comes.
I think they are forecasting temperatures above 10c on the 28th and 29th July for the Scottish 'summer' this year. ?

Real world:

45 degree weather. Range guesstimate at 85% charge was 217

Drove kids to school and to workout, in town driving.
Drove on Tollway, 85-95 mph for 30 miles, then 65 mph for 25 miles.
Back on highway 65 mph for 25 miles, back on Tollway at 80-90 mph for 30 miles.
Then in town driving to office and then Target (Electrify America station).

My REAL WORLD ACTUAL MILEAGE 150.9 miles.

I babied this car in an attempt to hyper mile it. at 100% charge, weather in the upper 60's, all in town driving.

REAL WORLD MILEAGE 214 miles.

That's obvious, ITS A PORSCHE.....

So for me, it's impractical in the sense that I drive 135 mile round trip rather frequently, and I do it @ 90 mph +/-

I know you all enjoy beating the EPA estimates in a Taycan; however, I have yet to see anyone taking on a long trip here in the desert Southwest when it gets to be 105F-115F (41C-46C)
I have no idea why the EPA range didn't do a test about driving in extreme conditions like 115F with the AC set to 62 while driving uphill against heavy winds with 5 linebackers in the car and their weight set in the trunk and frunk.

At 85% SoC or at 100% SoC?

It's a great car. But, unless it's driven very gently and not above 65 mph, and you don't press it like a Porsche, it's very limited in range.

Every car is limited in range. The only question is whether or not it is a limit that you can deal with.

I get 270 without trying, which is more than enough. I live in N. California, so that helps, although for morning drives here it can easily be sub 50, and driving into the mountains below that. I also have a hard time driving it slower than 75 on the highway and I certainly don't baby it.

you should be able to complete that trip with miles to spare regardless of the speed or weather. what is impractical?

Maybe US miles are shorter than good old imperial miles across the pond here!
Maybe RHD cars have misconfigured batteries? Seriously seems weird the dichotomy of experiences. I get comfortably over 227 (EPA estimate) in winter, driving “vigorously” in sport mode with no regard for economy.

Note I probably have the most efficient setup (19” with all seasons - despite the “rumor” that 20” is more efficient), in winter I had tires inflated at full load, don’t have motorized charge ports so have the vent, don’t have most things that probably add weight like glass roof or Bose.
