I've just had an email from my dealer, who has said:

"We have just received an update from Porsche AG that due to a fire at one the battery suppliers all Taycan’s have been delayed by 8 weeks."

Ouch

Anyone else heard this?

When is yours due? Mine is currently being built, or should be!

This is ridiculous! It's 12v batteries for crying out loud! These are not specialist items! Why 8 weeks? That makes no sense? Mine is going into production 1st of July. Ship me mine and I'll buy a battery from bloody Halfords man! Joke.

Like I said in the other thread, we've heard local statements about production halting before, for other reasons, and although the output dropped it never stopped completely. I'd love to see the official internal communication about the impact of the battery fire. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't specific about potential delays.

I suspect it wouldn't be that straight-forward either - Li-Ion battery, likely won't have the correct one in stock and I believe it needs to be paired to the car so will need a specialist tool to do that (similar challenge with my Boxster and found the 'pairing' bit odd so not sure if true but that's what the manual advises).

Joy! I'm starting to hate this car and it's not even here. Feckin thing better be good!

No updates from my dealer yet, still say it should be here in 3-4 weeks time (NL).

From the rumoured 4 weeks to now 8 weeks ?

Mine was originally supposed to be built this month but this got pushed back to Mid July
It now looks like I won’t get the Taycan till September or more realistically October, if this news is true.

The summer is over for me.

Anyone have a build that is supposed to be done this week? I originally had a build targeted for build this week with completion on 7/1 (long story but I cancelled it), but curious to know if this coming week is delayed 4 or 8 weeks due to this?

I have a “production complete” date of 7/1. No change to the schedule yet but I’m assuming it will get delayed.

i would have thought builds in the factory now should have floor stock that they will be supplied from. It’s those in the next few weeks/months that would suffer delays. Albeit I’m not sure how much stick of parts the factory would keep in warehouse…
