I thought I would share with you guys of what I posted last Friday on Taycan Facebook group.

I was planning to head out for a long weekend last Friday, so on Thursday evening I set a timer for the car to charge to 100% by morning. On Friday morning, an hour after it should’ve been fully charged, I went to the car and was surprised to see it only charged to 88%. Didn’t think too much of it and hit the road.

About an hour into the drive, I got stuck in a 13 km traffic jam… Eventually, traffic came to a complete stop, so I put the car into "P". When I tried to switch back to "D" to move forward, an error popped up: "electrical system fault/inspection necessary". I couldn’t get it into drive. Only neutral worked, even after turning the car off and back on. Behind me? Hundreds of cars that had been stuck for over an hour, ready to move. I somehow managed to push the car over to the emergency lane. I figured I’d get out, wait 15 minutes and try again—just like I’d read on the forums. Unfortunately, that didn’t help. So I called for a tow truck. After waiting about 30 minutes, the entire car's electronics died. I couldn’t turn on the hazard lights, open the windows, or even unlock the doors electronically. The car had to be put on rollers. Super scary situation. The car is still on the way to Porsche.

Ct14garage was super kind to check some more details through VIN. Interesting to that I have ARB6 and WRS1 active campaigns and wasn't even aware of it...

Unfortunate. Likely reason you didn't know anything about the open campaigns is because the solution for them is not available, and you are supposed to bring the car to the dealer every 60 days. However, and I believe we go to the same dealer (judging by what it says on the car plate), I've been told to not bother to bring the car... so make of that what you will.

Did the guy sent by Porsche assistance to tow the car not try unplugging and re-plugging the 12v battery? In my experience, at least, that solved all yellow errors...

The guy from Porsche assistance tried unplugging and replugging the battery and this is I think when the car totally lost electricity. Prior to that emergency lights were working and I could still change gears from P to N.

You did a great job moving the car to the emergency lane ! I've never tried it, but I was wondering how hard it would be to move the car if an electrical fault happened.

It feels heavy but in the end wasn't actually that bad, I managed to do it alone :)

I only see an ulocked lock at the brake hose recall (ARB0), that's an open campaign.
No WRS1 or ARB6 in this overview...

I applaud you for what seems like total calm in a storm. I'm sorry you had to deal with all that.

This might be a stupid question, but how did you push it to the shoulder alone? I've been putting a LOT of miles on my car and I worry about this very thing when driving. I'm a female, I'm big and relatively strong, but used to having MUCH smaller lighter cars. Do you just put it in Neutral and push and then jump in to brake and pray you're not on an uphill or downhill?

Coincidentally, it's at the dealer right now and they're checking/updating everything right now. (They gave me a loaner ICE Macan and I really don't know how anyone drives that thing.)

It’s still on wheels, it will roll over like any other car in neutral. But yea, avoid battery issues when uphill 🤣

Now you’ve given me a reason to keep a folding wheel chock in the trunk to make sure my Taycan doesn’t roll away if I can’t put it back in park when the power fails in both the 13.5V & HV batteries…
There may be no spare tire to replace but insuring the car won’t roll away is not a bad idea to plan for…

I wonder if I should buy a jump starter. The tow truck driver also told me never to carry the towing hook in the frunk but in the cabin.
