How many miles will you typically cover per day per week and the odd weekend?

As this is a lease car effectively and you aren't worried about resale then the absence of PB+ may not be significant however that said i would not buy the car either new or 2nd hand without it.

Mileage is not great overall given UK climate and in winter range will be impaired significantly. Std battery will be sub 200 miles range and perhaps closer to 180 with the standard battery (PB) before you turn a wheel.

Its unfortunate that Porsche present this dilemma on the basic
saloon only as all other variants have PB+ as standard.

4S is a better proposition if you can forgo some of the other desirable options to contain the costs.

Hello.

I do barely any miles per week as I work from home.

I pick my daughter up at a weekend, about a 20 mile round journey.

I suspect even with road trips I'll do about 6000 Miles per year.

I'm exploring the 4S but would need to spend a bit more to get the performance battery.

I’ll add my 2 pence. You ”probably” do not need the performance battery plus. It really depends on what sort of distance your covering, the average commute in UK is 23 miles. A lot of people state it’s a must have but I can only speak from my own experience with an EV for the last 3 years in that only twice have I done more than 50 miles in a day…and then of course I needed to stop to charge the car.

Another one many state is a must have is the panoramic roof…again for me it’s not at all necessary as seldom will I have rear passengers (excluding my dog!).

I would say must haves on the RWD are: Paint, 20 inch wheels, PASM, folding mirrors, PDLS, PSP. The rest is all personal choices.

Interesting.

What do you think to this 4S spec?

Here are my one-eyed opinions!

The only thing I am ADDING.
Everything else you haven’t added doesn’t need adding!
Auto dimming essential. Lovely frameless mirror. Base thing with a tag looks like 1970s Vauxhall.

Plain white I think is better than Carrera. Don’t forget 3 of the super expensive special colours are ‘solid’. Solid doesn’t mean cheap.
Stormtrooper Taycans are great. 4S red callipers like the blaster shots! Stormtroopers didn’t have metallic pearlescent paintwork!
You do need to turn widow surrounds black but you do with Carrera anyway.

Don’t need Power steer + especially with 20 inch wheels. I never noticed the need in 18 months. You can FoD if I am wrong!

Ambient lighting like a cheap 70s disco!

Benefits of the 150dc charge thingy highly dubious!

Privacy glass I just don’t like. Makes silhouette asymmetric and it’s dark enough in the back for the kids.

BOSE underwhelms me. Base stereo not great, just ok. BOSE isn’t fabulous, just louder!

14 ways, 20” wheels and foldy mirrors yes, yes, yes!

Just to be accurate the standard battery is the ‘Performance Battery’
The upgrade just adds a plus +
Nonsense Porsche nomenclature.
You DEFINITELY don’t need the + battery at 6000 miles a year.
Go for the 4S!
Woo Hoo

Your choice at the end of the day.
Sounds like you can live without it.

Just to clarify they all have PASM
Porsche Active Suspension Management
2WD is coils springs with PASM
Or it’s Air suspension with PASM
👍

Totally agree I would buy the big battery for resale but for OP with lease, allowance limit and low mileage I would definitely not bother.
I had 4S with big battery for 18 months. Low mileage like OP. Probably benefited no more than twice! Was either not going far enough or big road trip when I had to charge anyway!
Focus on the positives!
Tesla Bjorn got 273 miles out of a 4S with 20”s

Your road trips will probably be summer when range greater.
Car is up to 200 kilo lighter. Got to make handling neater and sharper. Definitely don’t need Power Steer +
4S only fractionally slower than4S+
4S comfortably quicker than Base or Base+

IMO on that mileage I wouldn’t worry about the 150kW charger, seems pointless. I travel from the south coast to the north often and to and from London most weeks, I don’t have the 150kW and it’s only for inferior 400v chargers such as the very ugly Tesla. I have had no issues and never stopped for any longer than 20mins and only once each way to the north and back and once on the way into London. Besides by the time they decide to open up the Tesla chargers we will all be in a hydrogen Porsche 😂

Pano roof waste of money. Front passengers get no benefit. Would not spec it again.
Coils great. Air no need unless steep drive.
Folding mirrors
360 view a must for parking. Mandatory
Dimming mirrors
Power steering plus
Bose
Perf battery
4+1 seat for dad taxi runs
Privacy windows
Upgraded headlights. Forget the name
Minimum 20" wheels
HUD display. Keep your eyes on the road and hands upon the wheel!

Just thinking ahead.... Let's not head into the devicive option of Sport Chrono on a RWD Taycan (again) 🤣

Also, another option I missed.....
Heated steering wheel. Minimal cost and along with heated seats means lower cabin temp in winter and more mileage.

I didn't get the Sport Chrono with my RWD. I really don't see what the point of it is but then I am not a petrol head or Porsche heritage fanboy. My thought process was "wtf do I want a bloody great big old clock on the dash? It looks stoopid in a Taycan". More money to spend on 21" aeroblades!

Hi Folks,

Thank you so much for your input and advice.

I think I have settled on the 4S based on the recent comments.

So for this model of 4S, I have selected the following options.

PORSCHE TAYCAN SALOON 420KW 4S 93KWH 4DR AUTO [5 SEAT] 23

Porsche Taycan Taycan - What options/spec? (£87K budget) 1652893600730

What suspension type and setup comes with this model of 4S as I couldn't see an air suspension option anywhere?

Air Sus is standard worldwide on ALL 4WD Taycans
I would turn the window trim and badge black.
Sets off Stromtrooper perfect look with Solid white and Red Callipers!
Silver Chrome trim and badges doesn’t look right on white !
