I’ve been noticing increased brake pedal travel over the last week or so. At first it was during parking; while trying to inch up to the parking block required me to be quick on the pedal to avoid scraping it.

Now while driving I also notice occasional-tending-towards frequent delayed braking action. Common to all these issues is what sounds like a braying goat right before the car comes to a stop. At first I thought it might’ve been a wet/rusty rotor but it happens far too often for that.

Anyone else?

So just heard from the dealer. Apparently there is a bulletin out on this problem. Step 1 is to bleed the brakes which apparently fixed the issue at this time for me. Step 2 is apparently more or less a complete brake overhaul.

I’ve had the car for 8 months & it has just under 4K miles on it. I would think that if there was air in the system from the factory it would’ve shown up way before this. In any event if it happens again at least I have the issue documented so next time they can cut to the chase…

The goat has returned after what, six or so weeks? Dropping it off this week and assuming it’s going to get the works this time around. Though the service advisor tells me there’s a Taycan in the bay already ahead of me with a dead electric heater, so who knows when they’ll get around to looking at it.

Ok, finally getting the car back on Saturday. They replaced a “pump” (or what the service advisor says is the Taycan allegory of a master cylinder). Will post an update after some drivings.

Thanks for posting this thread @atebit. I have this exact same issue with my 2020 turbo. My journey to banish the goat begins next week!

Just picked up the car this morning, brakes feel amazingly better. It took about six-ish weeks for the problem to re-occur for me last time so, ?.

So OP, did the problem re-occur? My wife's Taycan 4S is in the shop right now with the same issue. I want to make sure the service folks cut to the chase and do the right thing instead of a temporary fix. Did you have to get a full brake system re-haul done?

They had to replace the master cylinder, or the pump that doubles as the master cylinder on the Taycan.

However, I’m starting to get excessive pedal travel AGAIN. Waiting for the goat to start braying a little louder before I take it in for the third time…

Oh no. So braying has started again or is it just excessive brake travel as of now?
