Took a road trip from U.S. to Canada recently, crossing the border I switched from MPH to KPH. This is not what I expected. Terrible implementation….

I am in the camp that finds this pretty slick. Arguable that the readings should have been swapped to be even more helpful…..

Yes, swapped would would be a better way. I have no complaints seeing both values, but the main tube should display the selected value. Swapping temperatures can be done independently.

I am sure if it was the other way around, someone would complain that it does not make sense.

Personally I am sure Porsche thought:

-Having the local speed as additional info in a different place makes more Sense
-Keep the units you are familiar with in the place you are used to seeing it so you know instantly: I am going 60 mph in town that is too fast vs. seeing 96 km/h and thinking hmm what is the speed limit in town again in km/h?

Perhaps I found it strange because I’ve lived in Germany with a U.S. spec 911 and Cayenne. When both of those are changed to KPH, the main digital readout is set to KPH, and only the left speedo gauge (needle and dial) indicates MPH.
