Any thoughts on what is normal mileage life for tires on a RWD? And roughly what do 20” replacement tires cost?

I see this on other cars as well. Some people burn through tires really fast and not sure why the differences. 20k miles is 2 years of life. Is this all seasons? I run winters and summers - they should last longer as they are smaller temp ranges. Also - are people looking at their wear bars? No one uses those! My thinking is that shops demand replacing when they get close. I follow the engineering of the tire. No penny method - don’t have any anymore anyways. Better tool across the tire is built in! That is my rant :) we have 13k on out CT and lots of life left. One could also take a measurement every month and get a trajectory of how fast they wear. That is the scientific approach.

All seasons in my case and lasted over 2 years. Now on Pirellis on my GTS ST which I expect won't wear as well.

At 14k miles on 20” continental all seasons and they have hardly any noticeable wear. Had to replace one a few months back due to a puncture on the sidewall and it was a little under $300 for the tire, labor and balancing by the dealership.

Was able to eke out 35k miles on front all season pirelli 21” on our Panamera. The rears are still going and should have another 2-3k miles on them, putting it close to 40k miles. The inside edge of the tire wears first so be sure to check inside wear bars when assessing its life. The Panamera weighs about 900lbs less than the Taycan so I’m sure that has a major impact on wear rate.

EV torque curves wear tires out faster than their ICE counterparts. If you have a heavy/quick right foot, don't expect your tires to last as long as others.

I have 7330 miles on mine. One tire replaced maybe 1,000 miles ago for a nail. Car is at the dealer for the red electricl and they call and ask if I want new tires ($2,300 for 21" Goodyears) as they are at 4.5. I asked about the new tire, nope it needs to be replaced too. We tested it. How is that even possible (I keep the tire pressures on my left tube so they are always at the correct level)?

I told her I will pass and check the wear bars and check with my local tire guy who quoted $1700 for the 4 with life time road hazard when I get the car back.

Heck even the Porsche website lets you estimate a tire repair and send to the dealer and it was $2k (less than dealer bid).

I think they are just trying to drum up revenue by replacing early.

Tire wear can and will vary greatly between person to person assuming that both vehicles also have the same alignment. How heavy someone is on the pedal and how much speed they take turns at will have significant impact. The type of surface which they are driving can also be a major factor.

The general ball park estimate that I use is the treadwear rating on the tires. Take that value and multiple it by 100, and you'll have an rough idea as how long a tire will likely last. So if a tire has a treadwear rating of 220 (Extreme Summer Performance), then if you drive it normally / casually, then you can probably expect 22,000 miles or. Granted people that buy such tires are usually driving pretty aggressively, so realistically, probably more like 15K miles or so.

Anything 18" or great in diameter is going to be expensive. Not entirely sure if 18" is the new norm now, but anytime you get out of the norm especially on the larger side, price increases significantly. The width of the tires is also a major part of it too. In general, expect $400 or so if not more per tire.

With the way Porsche tuned the accelerator pedal, unless you are intentionally trying to go fast all the time, tire wear should be significantly less than the Teslas.
