I think this may be the first? I know a lot of people have been making racks that use the bike rack jacks for storage or custom bike racks, but has anyone else towed yet?

I fabricated a custom bar inspired by one of the bike rack bars posted on here, added a hitch reciever and am towing a small utility trailer with my son's kart, kart stand and some other supplies.. Total weight of the trailer, kart and supplies is probably less than 500 lbs.

I towed it 270 miles round trip last weekend and it was great. Pulled smooth and striaght and I averaged around 2mi/kwh with a family of 5 and luggage vs, 2.5-2.8mi/kwh normally on my own.

And he got on the podium for his first race weekend!

It never stops surprising me how you guys can do stuff like that in the US.

Here you would need to change your car's documents, provide proof of conformity from the car manufacturer, register the new overall car dimensions and change your insurance policy 🤣

Oh and probably a type B inspection to make the whole thing legal (if you managed to get all aforementioned papers first)

And you would need to pay €400 to add towing to your driver's license

PS: looks good though 👍🏻

Indeed. I was thinking "Try doing that in Europe. You'll need to be an engineer and a lawyer to succeed in that."
Maybe an example of how the 'land of the free' is actually a bit more free.

Now you just need to change the wheels on your trailer to match the cheese grater wheels on the taycan.
Judging from the work you've already done... it shouldn't be much of a problem for you 👊

Yes, exactly. I actually started with your drawings, but for simplicity and ease of assembly, the fabricator went with a 90 degree bend rather than the modest bend and weld at the corners. Your's certainly looks better with the profile matching the bumper though!
Looks great. Any chance your fabricator has any interest in making another one?
