I've appreciated all of the consistent trip posts on the Forum so thought I'd add my own. This is for those who have to use level 2 chargers for final destinations.
First, we bought our 2020 Taycan 4s (with performance battery + 265/305 R21 tires) mostly for daily driving and while we've had a few little hiccups, the car has ultimately proved to be a great EV for how we live. We live in an area NOT really supported by EA chargers (38 & 66 miles away), nor do our driving habits require a need for this.

However, we want to use it more for longer trips so we took it over to St George Island (FL) for the weekend and everything went smooth. Knowing that we did not have access to EA, we were relying on four (4) J1772s that were in the area that we were staying. I drive in normal mode on "low", the lowest chassis setting, and kept it at that for our 128.3 mile trip. We drove straight through and did not use ACC, but did switch between regen and coast mode.

We arrived at our destination on Friday, found the charger, and used the Greenlots app to initiate the charging session. Even though I had loaded credits into my account, the session wouldn't start. I called Greenlots from the app and after about 2 minutes on hold, got an agent that initiated the session for me. He said something about the location not recognizing my phone/app but it kicked in so we were happy.

About 2 hours into the charge, I received an email saying the session disconnected so I walked out, unplugged from the car, and stuck it back in, hit the "charge now" on the app and it took it to 100% over the next few hours. The charge rate was $.15/kWh+ 6% of total, so we spent a whopping $6.13 to charge. I deliberately selected "direct charge" as we were heading out the next day for sightseeing. We arrived back on Saturday afternoon from the beach and decided not to charge again since we still had 280 miles left on the guess-o-meter and figured we could get home just fine.

So at 100% charge with 340 miles, we did 128.3 averaging 3.8 mi/kWh or 26.3/kWh/100mi, showing a delta of 6.7 miles between actual mileage driven and fuel meter.

charging overnight can work great as long as you go into it eyes open (which you did) - if you can charge overnight and don’t need the car at your destination traveling with an EV isn’t that bad.

sounds like you had a good trip.

Looks a great trip and good use of L2 chargers. It is really great when you can reach your destination without any extra charge.

I am very jealous of your range at 340 miles and that is on 21 inch tires. That is so much better than my range of no more than 220 miles. But I guess the difference is due to your driving at a much lower average speed, 38 mph.

Yep - it was not a high speed run but we did have 30 miles of the trip at 60+ mph. I'm going to make a drive over to the L3 charger at some point which will put in a position to open it up. Will report results back then to compare.

I am in awe of your 100% battery range - easily 50 miles more than my best (280) in a Scottish summer!

I've only charged to 100% 4 times and mostly saw 330 miles but even I was surprised at the 340 this time around! At 85% I am consistently seeing 285-90 miles. I live in FL and it's warmer here the majority of the year.

I reside in S. Florida and have yet to see anywhere close to 340 at 100%. You must be very easy with the accelerator pedal. ?

No matter where I'm travelling - it's always faster in one of my P-cars. Life's too short to drive a Porsche like a Kia.

What, wait! 3.8 on a road trip? I’ve managed over 4 in my RWD once or twice early on but I rarely get more than 2.8 on a run anymore. I’ve *never* seen the range as high as that, way over MSRP isn’t it?

In fact since the last software update I’ve done considerably worse, and since the maths bug who knows how bad.

Must be the temperate climate - love the pics.

Yes - I'm going to try another one to see. Assuming it was because we weren't moving more than 60-70% of the time at a high rate of speed. Thank for the comment on the photos. Really the first pics I've taken of the car other than in the showroom and in the garage/driveway.
