Does anyone on the forum know what triggers the Turtle mode?
I have triggered it twice...once in very cold weather when I tried to use Sport Plus, and the other in cool weather when using smart lift.
I have assumed that it is triggered when the battery experiences untenable demand.

I checked the online manual and there is no mention of the Turtle icon. I have seen it only once while charging without Friendly Battery Charging setting on when the peak got to 293kW and battery heated to 131F. I am not doing this again as I am terrified of the Turtle.

I got the turtle this morning while charging on a 300KW charger while the HV battery temperature was 11 degrees Celsius and SOC was 17%. Once back on D, the turtle vanished.

Yes, it seems that once you power down and then power up again, the turtle can disappear.

I've had it once and suspect it was the cold. Car had been parked outside overnight, battery temp was 58F, state of charge was 55%, and it occurred as I merged onto the highway and I aggressively accelerated (basically pedal to floor). I was limited to about 40mph for 5 minutes and then it resolved. I've been careful to not punch it when i first start driving and battery is cold. It's been a year or so and hasn't happened since.

Yep, in my case too : the car had been parked overnight outside while freezing.

Here in Upstate New York, the battery will get down to ambient temperatures overnight, which recently have been -3F. I have been able to drive normally as long as I don't push it.
My battery, even on long trips seldom tops 85 degrees F.....I charge level II at 8.4KW at home almost entirely.

I was on the Macan EV forum today and saw for the first time what they do in Canada to keep their cars not snowed in, which I think is pretty genius if you park your car outside.

Zip up temporary car tents!

Had a similar exlirience with a brand new GTS (2nd time on a fast charger) and my 2022 CT4, the temp went to 130-133F while the outside temp was 50-60F and the turtle was showing up.. on warm days of 80-100F outside temp i have never seen that and i almost always condition the battery.

That's a great idea.....I wonder why they have not taken off in the US.?

I triggered it once in very hot weather, with very hard driving, after parking on a hot parking lot (over 100F.)

It was alarming but harmless, and recovered when the car returned to normal temps.

I now monitor battery temp on the dash so I know if it's going to happen...but I've only seen it the once.

For me, it's a matter of the battery being too cold.
It seems to "turtle" when I demand too much power.

Turtle normally means reduced / limited power available, whether that is due to low battery charge, or potentially battery condition (temperature).

I think most manufacturers use the same icon.

Im probably stating the obvious.
