The G's mean very little to me and the drag times - meh

But the Sapphire is supposed to be excellent cornering and feel. Would be interesting to drive one

The speed is obvious but we need to know the handling. It's supposed be next level but others say it's not so impressive

Did not see either driver press the push-to-pass after the U-turn.
I was thinking the same but there is no way it would have been that close without Push to Pass.
Also when did they use it? Right out of the corner?

Of course there shouldn't even be a push to pass IMO

i was watching their hands and did not see them pressing the button--since it is such a novelty, why would they remember it?

He mentiones he will use it at the 2:58 mark.
It wouldn't be close if it wasn't use though

i have to come clean and admit that i watch these youtube car-race videos usually with mute on-you have seen one, you seen them all--is my thinking here.
This allows me to pay attention to what the driver is doing and not all that bs-ing/blabbing.

It seems to me that if he was using push-to-pass at launch time, it was not designed for that as launch control already maxes out the power he can draw from the batteries. That once the u-turn is complete and cells had time to cool down a little from the initial shock, then he should have pressed the push-to-pass then, no?

A single hairpin turn isn't a very thorough assessment of "handling" and both drivers were inconsistent in their technique around it, with the resultant variability in exit speed making the validity of the long return drag moot. So IMO this test doesn't demonstrate more than that the more powerful car out-drags the other in a straight line.

Perhaps Push-To-Pass is not enabled in Sport Plus. The IC display shows "Attack Mode" where it usually says "Push-to-Pass", so perhaps only the wheel paddles are enabled.

It helps in repeatable track times, so you don't end up accidentally engaging boost more, overheating your drive-train (battery and/or motors) in a non-optimal portion of the track, then further by having to brake harder, then have no boost available where it would be most beneficial. Push to Pass or Attack Mode let you enable boost mode at precisely the spot you want them for optimal track performance - much more reliable with a button or a paddle than from inference based on accelerator position.

I guess what stood out most to me in this comparison is that really it’s a 777hp car vs a 1,234hpcar. You’re only getting the 1,000hp when you engage attack mode or the button. So if your just driving and flooring it there will be a worlds of difference between these two cars especially if your out of that 10 second window. While the lucid looks like a futuristic Buick it’s the car I would pick. At least I get full power any tike I want it. Still annoyed my turbo only gets full power on launch control.

Would someone please explain to me when you would use 'push to pass' on a Turbo GT???🤔

As someone looking at both of these cars, the first order of business for me would be to get @redshift-performance to upgrade the car to 1092hp full time to completely bypass the Push to Pass.
Sapphire and Plaid have over 1000hp all the time.

Is tracking the Taycan even a use case?

When Lars did the record times he was on the push to pass the entire time.
Even on this U-Drag, I wonder if that 4 sec cool down time would have made a difference?

Just to put an end to the question if "push to pass" was used:

I noticed this right after the video came out and asked in the comments.
Alistair (who was one of the drivers in the video) replied confirming they both pressed the button after the corner but it was not shown in the video.

Hi - Alistair (driver here) - both Jonathan and I used the boost button as soon as we exited the corner, otherwise the races wouldn't have been nearly as close. We just didn't show it in the edit.
