It's the tray above the protection plate as shown here@Maelstrom What do you mean by "HV tray"? The protective plate that lies under the battery assembly, or the container (lower part of the HV battery assembly) that the HV battery modules fit in? The HV battery assembly itself consists of a bottom compartment with vertical sides that holds all the cell modules, and a top lid.

So wait wait wait. They are now talking about just replacing the tray and retaining the battery modules and such? Why is the price so high??It's the tray above the protection plate as shown here
Always been the case, the tray is the HV battery - the potential Core replacement is the batteries I'm assumingSo wait wait wait. They are now talking about just replacing the tray and retaining the battery modules and such? Why is the price so high??
Now I'm confused. I thought the tray containing the battery, with the 'temperature equalisation system - the bit Porsche say is damaged) above the protection plate was not available as a separate item. I can't find it anywhere online (some sites say it's discontinued). I had presumed it came with a new battery. It's the tray above the protection plate as shown here
Correct - it's the underside of the HV tray so the whole thing has to be replacedNow I'm confused. Are we talking about the same thing?
Right so if the whole thing (battery) needs to be replaced why are they even talking about ordering an HV tray?Correct - it's the underside of the HV tray so the whole thing has to be replaced
Not too worried about the pedestrian system - I think they did that but for $1,200 it's a question of picking your battlesI think you folks need to take it down a notch, @Maelstrom has got their hands full with this mess, so lecturing and posting outrage is probably not helping, since anyone getting tortured by a dealer like this has got plenty of their own outrage brimming over.
The parts list on page 33 at https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...ship-is-tom-wood-in-indiana.20407/post-317144
shows that the battery and the "tray" with the cooling system are one $36k part. I believe this is just a conversational misnomer, and the "HV tray" with cooling system and "battery" are referring to the same assembly, which from the beginning of this unfortunate story has been clearly identified as being available only as a single part ("the HV battery").
Two things:
- The previous damage list and parts list on page 33 also mentions a quote for front pedestrian protection repair (says it is currently "in pieces"). Hmmm, that's something new.
- Reading back, I don't see where insurance is being included in the upfront parts payment that the dealer is trying to get out of @Maelstrom. That seems non-standard, and since I've never experienced anything remotely like that, I question whether insurance would actually reimburse on anything like that if they weren't involved in the negotiation.
Curious about this, I found an earlier post:

A customer would likely notice this on drop off…Curious about this, I found an earlier post:
