Thaks for that! I use the App Store a lot and never had to do that for other apps when an Update is available.
Indeed just daft that the first screen does not automatically recognize an update is available and have an Update vs Open button!

OK - still waiting on someone to enlighten me (not a huge challenge :)) as to whether the MyPorsche app update includes a Complication for the Apple Watch face - having to scroll around on the watch to launch the app on it is not exactly optimal - Electric Sidecar leagues ahead here it seems!

A lot
Was really hoping they'd add the ability to lock/unlock the car from the app for those of us with a 2020. Oh well, seems silly that you can't control the locks on a 2020 when you can every other year (and every other make of car).
The 2020 model is unstealable.
Be happy! 🤭

If you double press on the watch button it will display your list of open apps. You can close unused apps so that you’re left with only a few to scroll through to select from. For me, it appears right away after the double press.

Thx yes aware of this functionality but I'm far more enthused by the ability to simply glance at my watch to see SoC etc. in a complication - also a simple tap of said Complication brings me directly to the app.

Cannot for the life of me understand why Porsche hasn't simply provided a Complication for their app - sticking with ElectricSideCar as the MyPorsche app has otherwise added nothing it already provides.

Where it says about Apple Maps integration - do they mean that the car will share SoC info so planning can include recommended charging stops when using Apple Maps?

The Porsche navigation is awful but it's handy to know estimated SoC at arrival and for it to plan using the PCN
Yes it shows the Soc in Apple Maps. However it doesn’t manage to calculate the route when Taycan is selected as car. When I uncheck Taycan CT it does calculate a route without charge stops of course.

OK, apparently I need more coffee here but after updating the App I don't see any new complications from the MyPorsche app to add in the Apple Watch app face (Meridian face) - still see and can use Electric Sidecar no prob - please point me to the obvious I am missing!

PS: The Electric Sidecar watch app still does a lot more than the updates listed but def a step in the right direction.

EDIT: OK, now see that it is simply the App on the watch not as a Complication - seems like a bit of a fail to me - anyone see where it can be added as a complication?

Even our wee Mini has its complication!

Haven’t found a complication either. The app looks nice. Ps two button press = print screen.

It doesn't specifically say so, but it seems all other functionality is being passed through (current drive mode, etc) so it would be a bit of a joke if pre-heating wasn't part of it. The only reason I can think it wouldn't is if it's a one-way API so Apple can read FROM the car but not send back commands TO the car
Not absolutely sure. ABRP also has the possibility to connect to My Porsche for SoC and economy but doesn’t precondition. Difference may be that it is not through CarPlay. In my X5 I see Apple Maps instructions in the HUD and Dashboard. Would be nice if Porsche made this possible.

Agree it would be nice to see that in the center display, but it does not do that. And I have a feeling it will not communicate with the car for any preconditioning. I tried a route I have driven many times, but it is extremely hard to get any overview of charging stops etc. I could not find a list and judge the realism in the plan.

More integration needed before it will be off any value. And Apple Maps is not reliable where I live at all. Takes me down cul de sac and one way roads against the traffic. Been the same for at least 6 years now.

We do know that they can send requests to the car because you can adjust the air-conditioning from the My Porsche app in car play. And it does it will no latency.

It is odd the 2020 Taycans don’t have it. My 2020 Cayenne does.

I def notice that the phone app has been optimized in respect tap response/speed - feels like a min 20% improvement - need to test remote lock etc to see if that’s any faster but of course still local service provider dependent.

I believe this update marks an end to an ongoing replacement of Porsches Design System. I saw some LinkedIn posts from devs and designers that they are proud of the new system. Refreshed apps, including an port to Apple Watch is a perfect proof of concept.

So although the Watch app feels not finished yet. The SoC complication is absent - at least I believe so - due to the fact that implementing the new design is the major focus of this release - so the v10. The iOs team(s) now have time to further develop more features. My guess would be SoC data for watch and even further Carplay integrations. Resulting in releases like v10.1 or v10.2 etc.

We need to be patient for optimizations, this was just a fresh new look.

Hats off for the devs and designers, these are the most fun releases to work for. And to my eyes they nailed the new design.
