US - AMC3 Recall for certain MY 2020 Taycan front and rear upper control arm connections that may be loose

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2020 Taycan vehicles. The front and rear upper control arm screw connections on the rear axle may be loose.

It appears to impact 35 US vehicles built between June 17, 2020 and November 16, 2020.

Did they only produce 7 vehicles per month back then?

Mine was delivered in Spring 2020, so I’m good there.

Thanks for sharing these documents. My 4S was built late August / early September 2020, so I may be affected. I am going into the dealership for AMC1 tomorrow. Chances are that they will not have heard about AMC3 yet, given that the NHTSA document refers to December for dealer notification and January for customer notification.

The German vacation shutdown (three weeks?) falls in this period and Taycans were delivered to the rest of the world as well. Furthermore, Taycan manufacturing was still in its early phases and probably not yet at full speed, further complicated by strict pre-vaccine COVID rules in Germany then. Therefore, 35 Taycans for the US in that period may be a relevant fraction of all Taycan deliveries to the US then.

The Chronology section of the Recall Report indicates Porsche was able to study its production records and determine which vehicles were affected. Interesting they could determine 35 vehicles from the production records.
