This surprises many (who are a little snobby to it), but I really enjoy the look and wearing of my Porsche Design chrono. The blue face goes nicely with my Neptune Blue Taycan. I like that "watch people" hate it!

Is there a Swiss brand behind the PD watches, and/or do they use well-known movements? Not trying to be snobbish, just curious.

Porsche Design outsources the watch making to existing Swiss watchmakers. In the past they contracted IWC which is a pretty renowned brand but currently contracts the work to a lesser known company named Eterna.

So they they are Swiss made with Swiss movements but when you configure a $6-7k PD Chronograph, you're really paying for a $2-3k Chronograph with the Porsche branding inflating it's price (something Porsche owners are all too familiar with) and if you're really into watch collecting your money is better spent on better pieces with real horological history.

However if you don't care about such watch collector things, have a lot of money to burn and watch to build a custom Porsche Design watch for yourself, then go for it. ??

Indeed, an IWC Ingeniuer Chronograph Sport has been on my wishlist for quite some time, though I doubt I’ll ever find one priced that I’m willing to shell out for.

Unfortunately I wear a Swiss chrono on my left & a watch-looking Garmin Vivoactive 4S on my right because I can’t find a fitness “band” with the same 24/7 monitoring functions.

I had the same debate. Ended up deciding I liked the 38mm size vs. the 41mm. FYI trying to order on Zenith's website is a nightmare, I found this one at a Zenith AD in TN.
