It's time to think about installing a charger for the CT as she's about 6-8 weeks away.
Based in the UK, what chargers have you had installed and would you recommend?
What company installed it and would you recommend?

Porsche didn't really push their charger, in fact they recommended Andersen, which was a bit weird...

Any hoo, what have you got?

Any advice related to this most welcome.

I got the Porsche mobile charger with my car but switched to an Andersen A2 for the main charging setup. Very pleased with the look and performance of the Andersen. The Porsche charger would only charge at 3.6 kWh (single phase 32 amp UK supply) whereas the Andersen manages 7.4 kWh.

I wanted the reliability of a ClipperCreek but also the smart functions of a JuiceBox (to be eligible for utility incentives) as well as load sharing. Somehow I stumbled upon this Frankenstein unit (https://evcharging.enelx.com/utilities-store/clippercreek-hcs-40-utility). Probably not relevant for the UK market. Hasn’t arrived yet but I’m anxious to get it up and running. Anybody else have experience with this unit?

The same Gen 2 Tesla charger I used for my 2015 Model S but with a TeslaTap adapter. Works like a charm.

My Taycan is a few months away but I am ahead of the game and have ordered an Andersen. I prefer the look of it as it hides the cable and will fit in better on the front of my house. It will not be a typical install so I got a local electrician company that specialise in EV chargers and solar to quote. Their site survey was a much more sensible price than Andersen’s so I am getting them to do it. Not cheap but I am interested in getting a good rend result, even if it costs a bit more.

can you elaborate more on the reliability of Clipper Creek vs. Juice box? Not disputing you at all, just curious about a source and in what ways it's more reliable. I'm in the market too.

I think the reliability of CC is pretty well established. They’ve been making EVSE’s since 2006 and have a solid reputation as the one that “just works”. I’ve searched this forum as well as a Mini Cooper SE forum and the sentiment is consistent. Have also watched a fair amount of online reviews such as Tom Moloughney’s. As for the JuiceBox, a lot of people have had great experiences. Some have had issues especially since Enel acquired them. My garage will have a Taycan and a Mini SE in it so I will have both units that will load share off of a 50A circuit. But since I will have two EV’s I need at least one EVSE that will be rock solid and so far as I can tell, nothing is more solid than the CC.

I’ve had the Zappi 2 charger - over a year now - worked absolutely fine. Also has the advantage of different charging modes if you have solar installed. One further advantage is you don’t suffer from earth trip issues and the price is better than Anderson.

Hi , I have 3 phase at home and have had an Anderson A2 22kw charger installed with a tethered cable which folds away. Looks quite discrete and works well . The electrician who installed it made a mounting plate and post as wall fixing was not ideal for me .

Andersen's will install Porsche equipment or their own.

I had them install my Porsche Mobile Charger Connect and a dedicated 32A fused supply. 7.4kW.

Perfect.

Standard Porsche Mobile Charger Plus will perform the same on the same supply and if installed correctly - it is rated at 9.6kW so 7.4kW is what you'll get.

No real need to choose another brand or pay more.

Note that these are not chargers (the car has the charger) and simply provide a safe and stable supply to the cars charger.

We've just had a Hypervolt installed for my wife's Audi A3 TFSI-e Hybrid. Works very well and looks good. I bought a Project EV post to mount it on.

The app allows you to lock/unlock the charger from anywhere and then it's plug and play. Tells you when it's charged. Still haven't tested the 7.4kw capability yet (the Audi will only charge and 2.8 or something) - need the Taycan to test that, but that's not coming until September...

The Hypervolt looks ok on the stand and the Andersens are really discrete with lots of colour options.
The missus doesn't want the charger on view so it will be in the garage where aesthetics are less important.
What about charging at certain times for low cost electricity, how are you finding this? If used at all...
