As I intend to drive my 4S in the winter, I need winter tires. However, I am having a hard time finding any that will fit the 20" wheels. The only thing I've been able to find are Pirellis, and while previous Pirelli snow tires have been serviceable, I haven't been impressed with them. I wanted Hakka R3s, but nobody can find rears in the right size.

Any suggestions?

Great question! I’m holding out to put snows on my 20” OEM wheels, then new summer wheels/tires in the spring……..pirellis are the only choice at the moment that I Can find.

Hakka R3 is available in the correct size for the front and rear 245/45R20 and 285/40R20

Yes, in theory Nokian makes that size, but in practice, my local Nokian dealer says that there aren't any in that size available anywhere in the country, nor will there be before 2022.

In Europe l, the Goodyear Ultragrip G1 are readily available and rated NF0.
The only other two rated winter tyres I can find are Pirelli Pzero winter and Pzero Scorpion

I'm probably going to have to suck it up and get the Pirellis. I just got off the phone with Nokian, and the 285/40R20 Hakka R3s are not even scheduled for production. So nobody's getting that size in the US this winter.

Has anyone tried sizing down or up, i.e. 275/40R20s or 295/40R20s?

275/40/20 seem to be about 100x as common as 285/40/20. Crucially they are they same diameter as 245/45/20.

And the same size as the 275/45R19s that that car would've gotten with the stock wheels. So this seems like a good approach. Does the car need to be programmed or anything? It seems silly to ask, but... Porsche.

Maybe Order R3s from Europe? They are available in stock at multiple online shops here.

Any recommendations on a European on-line shop to order the Hakka's?

damn you’re right. sorry about that.
Pretty sure they had those last week there when I checked but ultimately ordered the PZW as I wanted NF0 rating for warranty

FWIW they have the Nokian EV winter tyres in that size but the ones they have left are spiked.

BTW, if you’re not bothered with the NF0 rating, then I highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Alpin 4 or 5. Have those on my RWD 911 which goes anywhere uphill with those in the winter. Had winter Pirelli’s before which never got more than 15k KMs with soft driving; these Michelins are over 25k KMs and still 4-5mm of thread. Maybe they’ll make it through the season
