I sent a note to PNA letting them know how disappointed I was to learn that they were cutting back the stock charger by 50%. Within my note I ask for a replacement that can handle 40 amps. as this is what we paid for . (See my note below the response)

After many weeks here is the note they just sent me.

Thank you for reaching out to Porsche Cars North America regarding your Taycan. We regret to learn of your disappointment regarding the recently sent update detailing our current temporary fix for your Porsche Mobile charger. We understand any frustration you may be experiencing, and I appreciate this opportunity to follow up with you.

We would also like to apologize for the delay in our reply, as we have been undergoing internal restructuring, we have seen an increase in our response times.

At Porsche, customer safety is our top concern, in every product we manufacture. In order to prevent any potential safety hazards, such as overheating of the charging cable, we have temporarily reduced the charging speed of the Porsche Mobile charger by 50%. At this time, we do not currently have a timeline as to when a permanent option will be available, but we appreciate your patience during this time.

We value your passion for Porsche, and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. If there is anything else I may be able to advise you on, please let me know, or give us a call at 1-800-PORSCHE. Our hours of operation are Mon - Fri 8am to 10pm and Sat 8am - 8pm EST.

Mr. ****, I appreciate your time and thank you for your understanding. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day.

Best Regards,

Below is the note I sent them. Here is my challenge to all of you, feel free to take my note and send it to PNA. The more notes we send the better the chance of getting action.

Dear Porsche NA,

I am writing to you about the latest recall notice I received from you (WMP2 update) in reference to downgrade the service load from 40 to 20 amps. This is very disappointing as I paid a lot of money to have an electrician run a dedicated 6 gauge wire (50 amp breaker) from my service panel to an outlet for my Porsche charger based on your specs of the charger.
While I understand this is for safety reasons it is very disappointing to pay so much for a top quality car that specs out high speed charging then drops that charging to half speed after I already own the vehicle and supplied charger.
I am respectfully requesting a replacement charger that can deliver the full 40 amps which was advertised and paid for when I ordered my car.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Thanks for sharing.

Way to say something without saying anything.

Only potentially interesting phrase is ".....we have temporarily reduced the charging speed..."

it is a stock letter, standard corporate gobbledygook which is translated to tough sh*t, we're not going to to a thing for all the people who have been seen the unit that they bought neutered.

Given they actually pulled back on the OTA firmware update on reducing power default by 50%; I would like to think they are pursuing a better solution. But maybe I have too much faith :)

In order to prevent any potential safety hazards, such as overheating of the charging cable, we have temporarily reduced the charging speed of the Porsche Mobile charger by 50%.
If, in fact, the cable which connects the PMCC/PMC+ to the NEMA 14-50 socket is defective, then this might only affect North American PMCC/PMC+ (in Europe a different cable is used). Cutting the power by 1/2 might reduce the current enough so that there is no longer a danger of overheating the NEMA 14-50 plug on the end of the PMCC/PMC+.
Since European PMCC/PMC+ continue to run at full power, this might indicate that there is an issue inside the NEMA 14-50 cable used in North America.
That said, while I don't use my PMC+, I remember that the supply cable is replaceable. Maybe the long term plan is to replace the PMCC/PMC+ NEMA 14-50 cable.

Folks, if you think you should receive a credit for anything, posting your request online is not productive. Keep it private and targeted specifically to an individual. You will tie PCNA's hands doing this via a public forum, just my 2c.

Perhaps save the form letter for next time Porsche needs something from you. Change it to suit the situation.
" we I have temporarily reduced the charging speed of the Porsche Mobile charger monthly payment for my car by 50%. At this time, we I do not currently have a timeline as to when a permanent option will be available, but we I appreciate your patience during this time. "

Sometimes that is true, especially if you sue and the company you sue sees a benefit in a settlement with a non-disclosure agreement attached. However, other times public exposure is what gets results (see Tesla issues for examples). There are even times where posting publicly motivates the company to settle with you under a condition that you stop posting.

I have faith that they will come up with a permanent solution. Always have and nice they called it a temporary solution. Maybe they will just give everyone new cable for the 14-50 side. For now I’m charging at 50 unless I need it - I also think people who damage anything by going 100% all the time may run into issues if they try to blame Porsche.

waiting and seeing @50% phil.
