I’ve had my MY 21, bought new, for about 3 years, and it’s time to think about warranty coverage for repairs. I’ve read threads here about the Porsche Protection Plan. It seems you can purchase the protection from any dealer, and prices seem to be individually negotiated with the dealership. So you can shop nationally. There has been mention of an outfit called Xcelerateauto.com which is offering repair insurance, including the HV battery! I haven’t seen the contact language. Prices for protection are lower than quoted here for the PPP. The question remains, how is CLAIM experience? Low prices are great, but not if they don’t pay or are difficult to deal with when the time comes. Has anyone had experience with them which they would be willing to share?

Can’t speak for Porsche but I have it on my ‘18 Tesla Model X. It was over $3k that covered me additional 3 years/35k miles. Paid for itself already for some warranty work outside of Tesla’s warranty period.

For claims, I set up service through Tesla, they provide the quote for the repair/service and I give it to Xcare after open a claim with them. They’ll review it and will ask you or Tesla to provide details of why the part or issue failed. Once they approve, you can approve it with Tesla to proceed. If you don’t have Xcare approval, then the claim process gets difficult. As for payment of service, I’ve never been successful on getting Tesla to bill 3rd party as they don’t like to work with anyone. They’ll just bill you and you’ll get reimbursed by Xcare once you submit the invoice and payment proof.

I’ve submitted 3 claims within the 2 years and they covered everything that would have normally been within warranty. Even the dreaded half shafts are covered. Just pay the $100 deductible.
