I'm on the wait list for the new Taycan and based on some construction, need to run power to my garage for charging in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately this is the time and I don't have the charging specs. I'll need approximately 180mi or range daily and will have on average 10-11hrs charge time each night. I cannot charge at work.
I've been working with my electrician and have a few ideas, but don't know if they are sound or not.
1. Run 2 100amp lines 2 or 3 awg to the garage on separate 100Amp circuits which will allow for full charging and future proofing for 2 EVs.
2. Wait to hook up a charger until the car comes out and I know which are the best for the vehicle.
3. Setup an indoor and outdoor charging station as sometimes I'll park indoors and sometimes outside.
What am I missing?
What would you recommend?
If the modern cars can only take 19.2Kwh is this overkill?
Can I connect a #2 or #3 wire into a charger?
What type of outlet will I need or is this direct connect?
Thanks,
Eric
