Not bad, aye?

Obviously not 100% identical to the Mission E concept, but still very sleek, sporty and good looking. Especially compared to other future EV sedans which are going to be made taller and look less sporty - Polestar has already done this with the Polestar 2, and Infiniti seem to be following suit with the Qs Inspiration concept. And of course the Tesla Model 3.

From the side it doesn't look dissimilar to an Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Sorry.....I'll just go with....'watered down'.
What is your biggest dislike?
B pillar?
I may be too optimistic but seems like it's a company with their shit together so how does the CEO parade out a concept in a global introduction and talk about it only to provide something completely different?
I guess we'll see in September, until then I will keep my spot and hope for the best

Professionally produced video in 2015 praising Porsche Design Dept (Korner, Borkert, Burki and team) along with all else that went into the incredible E..........then, almost 4 years of using the E image and carting that design study out to every important auto gathering around the globe.....including everything right through last year.
Herr Blume knew the Taycan body was 'fixed' back in late 2017.....not to be the E body. I've said it before but....this behavior by Porsche actually bothers me more than disappointment in the car.

*roof line is definitely different
*front window rake is definitely different
*most importantly, the whole front profile of the car is has been flattened and made ‘practical’....lost is the low front bonnet and the curvy high, 918-like, fender arches as well as the more pronounced hood ridges
*side-view profile of the back is definitely different
*view from the rear is very very different…..they’ve significantly toned down the broad shoulders over the rears (very unfortunate)
*conventional B pillar

Obviously it will be very 'adequate' 4-door family sedan for many........I'm a picky SOB who had money down almost 2 yrs ago (only because they would not take it back in 2015). The E would have made an incredible statement for Porsche and would have been highly fitting to lead the marque forward to completely new territory......pretty sure that's what Michael Mauer's team originally had in mind. But that's just my opinion.

I kind of agree with GreggT, the Taycan Mule model as shown is a nice family sedan but certainly nothing show stopping like the Mission E which was sold to the public at several Porsche events I attended. I have to wonder if Porsche believes they can really bait and switch its buyers and slowly manage their expectations into something completely differets. I have to believe that there will be a significant fallout of buyers if the Taycan does not look much more like the Mission E than is being represented in the most recent photos?

Does anyone at Porsche monitor forums like this one? I hope so... I too have been on the reservations list since day one and on the pre-list before that. I have a low number at the main Denver Dealer, but I’m not going to buy a jazzed up ho-hum remake of the scaled down Panamera. The Panamera is a nice car, but I owned one for several years and just sold it to make room for the Taycan. The mules, disguised as they are, are not anything like the Mission E. You cant just slap updated headlights on the front and a light bar across the back of a slightly shortened Panamera and call it a revolutionary design. I still have hope that Porsche will come through with a stunning new car design very very much like the Mission E, but I’m getting very worried. There are too many signs that the old bait and switch is being employed here and I’m not going to go alone “for the ride”. If in September we are shown an unwrapped mule with lipstick, Porsche had better rethink their production numbers pretty quick.

Ya but........now that we know that you get 3 years of free charging that should do it shouldn't it??

Golly....every Porsche owner I know was just waiting to hear if there was going to be free charging.

Not to mention that even as recently as a few weeks ago (or was it up to a month ago) during their press conference where they released the teaser video, didn't they say that the Taycan will be almost identical in form as the concept? Ditching suicide doors for traditional doors is anything but "almost identical" or whatever terminology they used to imply it's basically identical. I can kinda understand lessening the bulbous flares which I love, because it would still be mostly what the concept was, but ditching suicide doors for normal B Pillar doors is an obvious bait and switch because they are completely different things entirely.

The Mission E was a concept car. Porsche says the Taycan will be very close to the production version but will not have the rear suicide doors. In September they will unveil the final production car. Any other information is pure speculation.

Yeah, the fact that Porsche ist STILL showing off the Mission E at events (Porsche Expert Talks/Rome Formula E) is annoying. Just a few months before the launch. They know it's a good design and use it to get people excited for the watered down production model.

And they definitely shouldn't label the Mission E-model "Taycan" like here:

They haven't said anything about suicide doors IIRC
They've stated it will be almost identical to the concept, and sorry, but suicide doors vs not suicide doors is kinda a big thing. You can't say it's almost identical and take away one of the biggest visual aspects of the car.

Exactly!!! PLUS, their website still has the concept Taycan listed.
Porsche doesn't usually do that. They don't usually tote out a car that will look NOTHING like the production vehicle. Taking away the suicide doors and the bulging fender flares = it will look nothing like the concept. And that's not a typical Porsche move. It's the only reason I'm holding out hope.
