As long as the price and range are close to what has been stated, I will definitely be keeping my reservation. (I am expecting an S model to be around 115-120K. Base models are for people that want a car that looks like a Porsche but dont perform like a real one...lol)

With all due respect, that last bit is a pretty elitist statement. I’m a proud Carrera 4 owner as it perfectly fits my year round driving needs and dollar for dollar is an awesome car. I don’t drive on a track, but it’s a fantastic daily driver and I don’t give a crap if someone thinks it’s “lesser” because it’s a “base model.” It’s a Porsche and certainly drives like one. I hope a base Taycan brings many happy miles to whom ever picks one up. I plan on getting the 4S not because I want the badge, but the longer range and AWD for my New England winters.

Agreed... Not a very uncommon attitude amongst Pcar owners though...

Funny considering those with the most wealth are also the most thrifty.
Not sure the last time I cared about what someone thinks of my daily driver.

Sorry, certainly did not intend to insult any Porsche owner. Back in the 1990s when Porsches were not such a common car in the Atlanta area, it was tradition of Porsche owners to flash headlights at each other to recognize each other's great car. It made the Porsche owners smile and have pride in their vehicle. Every Porsche is a great car!

Having said that, Porsches are supposed to be high performance sports cars. Every 911 qualifies for that. The base 911 does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, and the S w/Chrono does 3.3 sec. And the base Cayman/Boxster is 4.9 sec, but the S w/chrono and PDK is 4.0. But lets look at the heavy cars and the Taycan will be a heavy vehicle

Cayenne....Base model 5.9 seconds....common on, a Subaru will out run this! The S model w/chrono 4.6 seconds.

Macan.....Base model 6.3 seconds.....who has the gall to even call this a "sports" utility vehicle. Granted, it is beautiful and has the handling of a slow moving Porsche....lol The S w/chrono, 4.6 seconds....ok, no we have a "sporty" Sports Utility Vehicle.

Panamera....Base model...5.4 seconds......S model w/chrono 4 seconds. As an S model, considering its size and weight, truly AMAZING vehicle. Equally amazing interior, with hideous fat rear end (until the 2019 model). The base model boring and lethargic, no wonder they designed the rear-end to resemble a fat woman's rear end....lol At the time I test drove the Panamera several years ago, it also had different suspension settings. WOW. I almost bought it but had difficulty fitting it into my high-rise condo building parking spot and couldn't get over paying over 100k for a car that had an ugly rear end.

The Taycan.....I am guessing the Turbo S would be between 3.1 and 3.5 seconds, and the S around 4 and the base around 5. Just speculation based on other heavy Porsche vehicles and the obvious need of Porsche to differentiate models based on performance and justify pricing. And additionally for the Taycan, an important part of the performance will be the range.

I greatly look forward to seeing the exact stats of the different Taycan models and look forward to owning one!

I'm really hoping they do better than that on performance and price.

If they really wanted to compete, they should break it down like this, knowing most people would gladly pay $10K (or more like $15-20K after options are factored in) for Porsche quality:

Model S Standard Range (4.0 seconds) $75K --> Base Taycan (4.0 Seconds) $85K
Model S Long Range (3.7 seconds) $94K > Taycan S (3.7 Seconds) $104K.
Model S Performance (3.0 seconds) $104K --> Taycan Turbo (3.0 Seconds) $114K
Model S Performance w/ Ludicris Mode (2.4 seconds) $124K --> Taycan Turbo S (2.4 seconds) $134K.

Knowing Porsche, here's what they'll probably release, which would make me pass and just get a Model S after they refresh in September:

Model S Standard Range (4.0 seconds) $75K --> Base Taycan (5.0 Seconds) $95K
Model S Long Range (3.7 seconds) $94K > Taycan S (4.2 Seconds) $110K.
Model S Performance (3.0 seconds) $104K --> Taycan Turbo (3.7 Seconds) $125K
Model S Performance w/ Ludicris Mode (2.4 seconds) $124K --> Taycan Turbo S (3.0 seconds) $145K.

I agree that they love to make the base model slower than it really should be to ratchet up their S sales for better profit margin.

Its actually fun to speculate....add about $10k to 15k for each of your prices on the Base, S Turbo and Turbo S, and you might be close....LOL
Blume just announced the Taycan would start just under 100 Euros (111,000 dollars). So $105,000 for the base model. Based on the other porsche lines, an S is normally $15k to $20k more than the base model

For an amazing, unique, new hip Porsche, those are not outrageous prices. similar to 911 price structure, but disappointed that we all were originally expecting price to be between the Cayenne and Panamera, not same as the 911

looked at your images but don’t think they really reflect well on the soon to be production car..... so i took another image that is more straight side as the one of the mission-e in your image set and put them together...... YES the production car is toned down over the front fenders and to some extent the rear fenders as well but it’s really the cabin the has a less aggressive window rake and a more bulbous rear end...... finally the rear wheel well is much smaller around a much smaller wheel.... otherwise the closeness in the side view is striking in my opinion......... so for me the verdict is YES they have done one heck of a good job keeping the original proportions in something that has to be a practical everyday car with close to super car looks.. :)

0-60 in 3 seconds or whatever is fine for me, I want it to drive like they say, a Porsche. . Just my opinion but model s looks boring to me. It's a nice 4 door family car but nothing I'm craving to own.

Exactly. Not to mention, the quality control department at Tesla SUCKS. I've seen reports of ridiculous panel gaps, mismatched door panels, etc.

Teslas, while being a respected necessary step towards the future of EVs, have never really done it for me, as they were developed by tech people, not car people.

There's much more than 0-60 times. Have you seen Teslas on the track? Hideous.

You may not personally not like Tesla and am guessing you dont have friends that own one but Tesla buyers are probably the most loyal and happy customers of ANY carmaker. Where I live, in Midtown (intown/downtown area), Atlanta, Teslas are very common and I always take the opportunity to speak to the owners. I have YET to meet one owner that has not been SUUUUPPPER ENTHUSIASTIC about his Tesla. They always say it is his favorite and best car ever owned, and virtually ALL are former BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, Lexus and Prius owners. This is going to translate into amazing brand loyalty, if Tesla survives its growing pains. And part of the appeal is the fact that they were indeed developed by tech people, with car people as the necessary second tier. The result is an new kind of car, more modern in concept and different from other cars, which for most EV buyers, that is what they are looking for. I hope the best for Tesla!!

Generally speaking, Teslas are like Porsches, once you own one, you will always want one!

Yes I have owned both Porsche’s and Teslas and am thoroughly convinced both car makers are at the top of their game. If you do not like a Tesla then it is probably because you have never driven one...... It is however, true that the model S and to some extent (it’s an SUV after all) do not handle as well as other cars in their category. Try the model 3 and you will be very surprised of how well it handles and how fun it is to drive on twisters and even on track! I sold my last S for a model 3 and am loving it. To the point that if the Taycan does not fill in the blanks correctly I will keep the 3 and forgo the Taycan! Right now the Taycan is still on.... :)

So just because you don’t like Elon Musk or his ilk does not mean that he is not producing quite amazing cars after such a short time of existence......... 10 yrs vs. 70..........!

I think Elon Musk is an excellent visionary. I just think their design is gross and the short time that I've spent in one...while the acceleration is amazing, the handling (in the S) was just horrid.

A lot of Tesla owners remind me of that South Park episode about the Prius owners...

And, again, I'm not down talking the IDEA of Tesla. I believe it's amazing what Musk has accomplished. But, to me...it's just very boring. I'm not too much into the tech of cars, more the complete driving experience. Tesla falls flat on that. For me.

Sometimes, people forget Tesla is a relatively new brand but it's designers and engineers are not.
They come from Mercedes, BMW, Toyota and GM.
That same people think Lamborghini suddenly has changed all it's employees by Volkswagen employees...
Btw, it's the other way around: Volkswagen is owned by Porsche,
Porsche SE owns Volkswagen AG of which Porsche AG is part of, just for your info.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_SE

Ok, now the thing about the Mission E and the Taycan...
I think we must stop comparing the two.
The Mission E is the one where we put the deposit for, simple as that.
We should also stop looking for excuses why the Taycan doesn't look like the Mission E.
It does look like it but surely is something different.
It's not where I put down my deposit for, period.
Now, that being said, I'm looking if I like the Taycan as it is.
Therefore I'll keep my reservation till September where I shall visit the FAA in Frankfurt.
I just want to see if it is a car I want to spend my money on.
I've just forgotten about the Mission E, I hope the Taycan is something I want as I'm still interested but only just...
We'll see...
At least this pic keeps me warm though...

I would also note there's a slight chance the Taycan will hold it's value in the first year, maybe two due to the high demand...
If you order now, it'll take at least a year to get one.
At least that's what they say...
One can't speculate about orders and/or real data, right?

If I don't like it after owning it (which I doubt though) I can sell it without a big loss if you catch my drift...
So yes, I'm keeping my reservation!

I will probably do the same.....simply because the wife needs a different 'dog-hauler' while we have some restoration work done on her E55 AMG.
I still hold the grudge with Porsche. The 'E' had so much promise and appeal. The fellas in the Design Dept did an incredible job.

As I've said before.....more than just the body compromises, it's disgusting what Blume & Pcar Marketing has done in the last 2 years (right up until last week) promoting that beautiful 'E' body. The professionally produced books that arrived last Friday are filled with images of the 'E' body.....and even an expanded view of the make-believe Taycan assembly line showing 16 or 18 'E' bodies rolling along.
Whatever.....there's a lot more important things in life than driving and cars...right?
