It doesn't.
Life is too short.
If 'driving' ranks high as one of life's simple pleasures....compromise should not be in the cards.
Everyone's different. You know your own priorities......you know how you rank them.
I've driven a 911 home after work for many years......rain, snow, winter, summer.

There a days I would not trade that for anything in the world.
If a person can get that kind of pleasure from a Macan or Audi TT.....more power to them.
Taycan will be a 'good car' but IMHO.....but the way it sits now, it will only rate as a good dog-hauler for the wife to drive for a couple years.
I would have felt differently about the Mission E body.

When you get out of your car and start to walk away......do you always have that hankering to turn your head for one more look?
For me that's also one of life's simple pleasures. :)
You may yet be in for a pleasant surprise.

I've never yet known a car company that uses its concept model in an infotainment screen of its production model. I could be wrong and this could be the first time, but I hope Porsche will surprise me.

I've always felt that cars from the factory are like a semi-blank canvas. There's ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS room for improvement, and it's really fun to let your creativity flow.

One of the greatest pleasure I personally get from being an enthusiast is knowing that I'm going to be completely changing the look of the car, so that it's unique to me.

My dad will be building an m3/4 pretty shortly here too, will be his retirement car! He wants to widebody it and use my brothers engine builder.

Nice :) Widebody cars get a lot of flack for whatever reason, but I think a lot of that comes from cars with no power that go wide. A properly built motor in a beastly looking car is absolute awesomeness in my eyes.

Hmmm...going wide on the Taycan...hmmmmm...

Yep........understood.........I've had new Porsche's cut-up by good tuners in Germany after leaving Zuffenhausen.......but the 'bodies' looked good from the jump and they weren't 4-door sedans.
To each his own....the car only has to pull your chain.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. My Macan GTS is chipped and lowered a bit...plenty fun for a DD. My Jeep is all set up for off-road stuff (bur still drivable as a daily), so that's fun in it's own right.

However, you're writing off a car that you haven't REALLY seen or driven yet as being boring.
Not really, I have said in other posts I am still on the fence and waiting to see the Taycan in person before I decide either way.

Yeah same here. Definitely not against it, but I am certainly apprehensive now.
My deposit will still remain until I see the final product.
It might be a petty thing to say: looks are very important to me for this car.

Nothing petty about wanting to spend your hard earned money on what looks good to you !
I took $200 and started cutting grass with my brother. 20 years later we were bought out of both locations. Thinking back at 2 decades and the challenges I also want what I want for my money. Or I'll wait till someone gets it right in my mind
