I am going to wait to see the actual Taycan release in September. As I have been saying since I joined I will buy the Turbo S but if it does not have the aggressive look, wide rear hips etc. like the Mission E, I will get my deposit back. I have been a Porsche guy since my childhood and own 4 Porsche's currently. I hope Porsche is smart enough to make sure the final product looks as close as possible to the Mission E. The mules are terrible!! A lot of deposits will be returned is my guess if it does not look like the Mission E.

Agree with you wholehearted! I’m on number six and have very high expectations from porsche. The fact that they continue to release mission e pics in their campaign coupled with these “mules” is soMewhat contradictory? They must know that people think those “mules” are not captivating(ugly)!

Again....

I don't think it's cool that Porsche is using the Mission E to promote the Taycan just a few weeks before launch. This is at a pop-up showroom in London. The final production model will look quite a bit different and toned down.

This last bit of "news" might well be the final straw that puts me in the waiting room for at least another year, maybe more. The reduced charging rate in itself doesn't bother me much. 250 kW is fast enough and I wasn't planning on charging with more than 150 kW anyway. The problem is that this news is telling me the current battery is not as good as we've been led to believe.

So, now I know there will be a better and probably also lighter batteri available in 2021 and before long they will launch a Turbo S and a lighter and probably much more fun to drive GTS version.

The prospect of becoming an early adopter becomes less and less tempting.

GTS is for later but I’m still hearing Turbo S as the first model to arrive...........

To say the mules are terrible is kind of odd when they do look like the mission E. definitely toned down, I get that but those that say they look nothing like the concept probably don't realize how good Porsche is a hiding vehicles in the wide open

".....hiding vehicles in the wide open".
They've been driving the mule body in plain view since late 2017.
Can you be 100% sure that this is the case? And, if you're wrong...will you change your screen name to Assface Assertinian The III?

OK......I guess I must have triggered something here.
Not sure what.......been following this daily since late 2014 and fortunately (or unfortunately) I'm first on the list in my market with a deposit about 2 years ago, so admittedly anal on this.
Here's a pic of one of the many mules Porsche produced Fall of 2017 and posted on-line Oct 7, 2017. After then they were seen everywhere. A month later, September at Frankfurt Ollie Blume said the E "design is fixed".....meaning done.
So......I guess people are saying that this 'body' from 2017 is a lot different than what ran 3 weeks ago at Goodwood......and if that's the case then I'm wrong. Sorry.

I've been following as well and at least in my book, this is an accurate assumption. The prototype bodies you see now have been around for some time. I know of at least two: one with fake exhaust tips that is still seen in other countries as of 2 days ago and one without. It's just that Porsche has been slowly removing camo pieces here and there, which is no different than other prototypes tested. For the 992, the prototype was around for at least 2 years and people swore that it wasn't the same 992 design until they realized over the months as the camo started to come off. See here a similar prototype to your pic, just 3 days ago in the Netherlands:)

That rear profile and the way the Mission E's lines are dumbed down is 100% the problem with the mules. The proportions are slightly too tall, thin and bulky as well, but front view it looks so athletic and sporty you can't tell the difference. The rear view has lost the Mission E spoiler, and if it looked more like the Mission E's spoiler, 70% of the aesthetic problems would be sorted, and making the proportions closer to the Mission E's adds another 15%

The bottom pic is a panamera(to my eyes)! Just look at the height of the roof line and height of the windows compared to the upper pic?

Also, the difference in the slope of the rear “fastback”. The mission E is sharp and “long” while the bottom pic car is bulbous/ humpbacked.....like the first gen panamera!

I totally agree. I'll wait to see what the final reveal is but I'm happy the deposit is 100% refundable. I know the Tesla 3 is more advanced electronically, and for way less money, but it's just not a DRIVERS car. So if I pull my deposit, there's nowhere else to go except the BMW i8 Roadster?

I wouldn't go that far, but I certainly think it looks too far from the Mission E for comfort

Integrating the spoiler I think would solve this problem, as the hips would have definition, and the roofline would meet the bootlid more sharply, plus creating an air duct which would at the least make the Taycan look better
