I placed my deposit on the Taycan last year and have actively been a part of three forums with a Taycan presence for almost a year. Watched the unveil this morning and have to say I am greatly dissapointed. Porsche let their marketing department get way ahead of their engineering. Mileage very low compared to battery size and really over the top prices so far. Porsche is trying to protect their ICE vehicles with these prices and It is hard to believe 150k doesn’t even include a stereo system or cruise control etc, etc. Maybe the lower end versions of the Taycan to come will be a better buy but at this point I am out. I need something here in Texas that has better mileage than a Chevy Bolt......

I have not seen eye-to-eye with many of your posts, but I agree with this one pretty much completely.

Exactly:
"Optional On-Board DC Charger to increase maximum charging capacity when charging at public 400V direct current charging stations. By increasing the charging capacity to 150kW, the charging time is decreased."
I believe this should be standard charging functionality, not an optional extra.

I agree as well, still interested in the Taycan as I am a big Porsche fan BUT, they are clearly pricing this car to protect their ICE cars anD, more important is the disappointment of their Battery vs Range. If 279 is the European cycle than the Taycan will get less than 200 miles per charge in conservative driving in the US. I expected more of Porsche with their 70 years of history. Give this one to Tesla but styling to Porsche.

I’ve been excited about this car for four years now, and I’m so disappointed by the outrageous price and options. No one should have to spend 30k to option a 152k car! Porsche is making fools of those who will put up with paying double what the car should actually cost. I wanted this car, but I won’t pay 200k for an ev with a 220 range, I’m just not drinking the kool aid.

Yes, price is pretty crazy for the Turbo S, but you get some unbelievable performance. As we thought, it's basically the mules, but of course looks much better without the tape camouflage. I was configuring the Turbo S and had a few questions. First - do you have to get the glass roof? This seems odd. Second, I'm not quite sure what the charging options are for us here in the US. I believe I want the 'unavailable' Mobile charger connect including home energy manager so I can take it with me on long trips and charge from standard 400V chargers. Is this correct? If you get the charging dock, does that whole thing disconnect and come in the car with you? Of course, you'll want the on-board 150kW charger. At least they give you a 25 ft. charging cable for free...

Otherwise I have to say I'm really happy about how the car turned out. They kept the mission e wheels, which are absolutely killer. I love the interior and for me, the white metallic exterior with the standard black/carbon fiber is the way to go. I also love the fact that you can get high gloss black calipers. I'm assuming the 'high gloss black' option for the exterior is to simply change out the carbon fiber for high gloss black, and the rest of the black trim is high gloss. Lots of minor questions, but I think they've done a heck of a job creating a very good looking car with crazy performance. I will be very interested to see what the road tests say about the real world range.

I agree completely. I, too have been waiting for 4 yrs, but this price +options that should be standard is absurd even for Porsche. They’ve gone too far. And I am a big Porsche fan, having owned 9. Every model but Boxster so far. I’m out on this one.

Turbo and Turbo S models. Not the best color options. Easily configured over $200,000! Wow... giving me significant pause....
So much for pricing in between Cayenne and Panamera. I hope people don't suffer sticker shock and drop their orders - need this to be a sales success so that I can pick up a used one in 2-3 years. Just make sure to spec the 2+1 rear seats, please.

PS: Porsche can't be serious about this option, can they:

Porsche Electric Sport Sound $500
Porsche Electric Sport Sound enhances the vehicle’s own sound and makes it sound even more emotional - both outside and inside the vehicle. Can be activated/deactivated via Porsche Communication Management (PCM).

Wtf. I guess that's the BEV equivalent of PSE, but come on...

yeah, off lease will be a thing in 2022. But they’re going to sell a ton of these, and then they’ll announce the 4S model.

No $200k car sells a “ton” unless you mean the physical weight of the car, in which case it’s over 5000lbs per sale.
the model S sold up to 15,000 a quarter at 911 prices. Porsche will do well relative to that and their production run < 40,000 annual. “We sold every unit the factory could possibly make even after doubling the lines” = “a ton”

If you want to deselect the charger (I don't want any charger) you have to change to another body color...lol.
