Yes, it would be nicer if Porsche produced a more efficient battery, inverter and electric motor, hence longer range. Yes, it would be nice if Tesla made a vehicle that could be driven like a sports car for extended periods, and improved steering, suspension and stability, and actually have a luxury interior for a $130,000 car AND revamp a car that has been around now for 7 years. (The new Camry is more modern than the Model S) . And YES, I am sure both manufacturers are working on it. Hopefully some will come out with the Model Y which will be my everyday commuter work vehicle when it comes out.

Why do you keep saying I’m pointing out model 3?

I found a range simulator from Porsche on the Belgium page where they take in account:
- The model (turbo / turbo S)
- Typical use (%city / %national roads / %highway)
- climatisation (on / eco / off)
- temperature
- which wheel model
- heat pump

I tried a bit different parameters and in the extreme for the turbo model they give a range from 222 to 470 km

Update:

Thats interesting! I didn't get anything less 320KM.

.....the Taycan is obviously not for you. I can think of many vehicles that are not for me, so I don't go on forums about those vehicles and constantly post how this vehicle is not for me...... :like:

Just get the Tesla Model S long range....its an absolutely wonderful car and if Porsche didn't come out with an EV, I would have gotten that already! Maybe best advice for you is to just stick with an ICE as you obviously have extreme an case of Range Anxiety. I intend to get the Model Y long range version for myself as an everyday work car, and the Taycan as an anniversary gift to my wife.

Advice: take the heat pump.
It's pretty efficient (+300%)
I.e. if you need 4 kW of heat, you need 1kW of power out of the battery and use 3kW out of the air by extraction of energy (evaporation of the cooling liquid)
This technic works perfectly until temperature goes below -5°C.
It's like a reverse airco.

It would be nice if people would use up to date information when criticizing:
- The Model S Long Range Performance (FNA P100DL) now costs $100K, not $130K
- The latest iteration of Model S has a new Adsptive Suspension with Sport Mode
- It also uses one of the Model 3 SRPM motors which should allow extended periods of hard driving like it does in Model 3

And I agree the interior needs an upgrade. The exterior look is fine as is IMO

checked out the range estimator...….. If they are being honest to what is real km then its right on par with my model S P90D that I sold this spring. So that's pretty good...… Yes not as much as current TESLAs but certainly not bad. however, if they are using the 90km/hr idea that TESLA uses for their estimates then it will turn out to be a little short in the range department for my liking...… I will trust my instincts though and go with that Porsche are always conservative and true, so this estimator is probably giving you range for a fun spirited kind of drive.....

We are all of course speaking about the Tesla that does 0-100kmh in 2.6.....sorry I was wrong about the price....not $130,000, but $134,900. Speaking about Canadian dollars as Rotordude who I was talking with is from Toront0 Canada and while we discuss in km. The whole world is not just about Americans.

Yes, the Tesla has an adaptive suspension, and the taycan has a battery....you point is? The 911 has an ICE and so does the BMW Z4. In the 1990s, I had the original Acura NSX and a Porsche Carrera. The Carrera was faster on the straight stretches, but I felt MUCH more comfortable in the NSX driving up steep curvy mountain roads with almost 180 switchbacks. Fear was the only limitation in the NSX....but the suspension and steering was the limitation in the 911. You get it?

It's not that bad.

Just because it's not as high as a Tesla Model S's range, doesn't make it bad. 450km is more than enough

What I'm more impressed and interested in is the Taycan nurburgring time, and how it handles/drives compared to the Model S

Any idea of how many kilograms the heat pump weighs? God knows the car is already heavy enough.
