Battery 100,000 mile warranty

Hi Guys,

We have a deposit down for a new Taycan and one thing that concerns me is the battery warranty. The 8 year calendar warranty is fine, it is just the 100,000 mileage limit that concerns me due to a planned mileage of around 25,000 miles per annum. Furthermore, I asked Porsche if the warranty could be extended annually for a fee (as per normal Porsche warranties) but I was told this would not be possible.

With the above in mind, I guess it will be interesting whether a leasing option is a better option rather than an outright purchase (given that after 100,000 miles the value of the car could possibly plummet).

Any thoughts?

Did you ask, or has anyone asked for the cost of replacing the battery?

I have a deposit since January, but I have no intention of going to the dealer until they have one that I can see and drive.

No clue on battery cost. But 100,000 miles in a car like this would be easy to rack up in around 4 years I reckon...

In CA, I was told show room cars to arrive in December.

Mileage is very personal. I do < 10K / yr. Most extended trips are by airplane, so the taycan’s expected epa range of < 250mi is fine for me.

Approximately 12% of the battery is reserved overcapacity for wear reduction and charging performance. Unlike a Tesla, you physically cannot charge the taycan past 88%. As long as you don’t run it down to < 10% too frequently, you ought to see very good longevity from the battery pack. Tesla’s batteries are slightly different and slightly better, but overall folks who have used them hard for years have seen very little degradation. Like 10% or so for several 100K mi. The Tesla battery are a little better, not several multiples better, so I’d expect fairly similar longevity as you see in older Model S.
