Really?.....you configed and ordered?.....Are you the 1st in the U.S.?
My deposit over 2 yrs ago.....top of the list here but no word yet on ordering.
BTW.....on tires...Pirelli does make Winter 21 Sotos in the 265/35 and 305/30.....however, assume you know that Porsche's recommended winter fitment is 245/40 and 285/40 in 9J and 11J 20's.
Personally I will not be going 11J for snow.....but will have dedicated winter rims.

I’ve decided to go with the Pirellis and keep the original wheels for a few reasons. First, winters are not too bad here in Cincinnati, and when I drive north I’ll be more aware I don’t have the optimum winter configuration. Second, winters on the OEM rims will certainly be better than ‘all season’ tires, which guarantee sub optimal performance at all times. Third is I’ve always had the smaller rims/tires on my Panamera and previous cars and I couldn’t stand the difference in handling and looks.

I just received this from my dealer:

Hello Michael. wanted to keep you updated with your Taycan order.
Porsche has not allocated any orders just yet. As soon as I get your allocation, I’ll send you a note with commission number and we’ll go through your build one last time.
Hope all is well.
Thanks

This is exactly why I don't believe people in the US have ordered and why I asked for the Build Sheet in my previous post:

Ordered with specs I want adding in "heads up display" if available. Dealer estimates delivery in the Spring from March-May. My deposit has been in over one year. Hope more colors will be available after the first of the year and will have the opportunity for more choices but will go with my order if nothing else pops up. Car ordered was the TURBO.
Could you please post your Retail Build Sheet with Vehicle Status code?

If you aren't familiar with what I am talking about it looks like this:
https://rennlist.com/forums/attachm...27d1410989844-last-build-sheet-review-bs1.jpg
If allocations aren't out yet you can't place a real order. It's not in the system and it's not being built. It's just pretend until then.

Were any of you able to negotiate anything off of MSRP? If so, what % were you able to get off the price?

Also if you are leasing the vehicle, can you please share the leasing $'s and terms?

In Switzerland there is a healthy percentage off the list price but its not negotiated rather built-in due to the fluctuations of currencies... so between 10-15% off..... The other Porsche E-Mobility vehicles have a great leasing rate of 0.9% on the loan but for the Taycan that's not the case its more like 2%...….. so there you have it in Switzerland. :)

OK. So MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price) which is United States lingo is really List Price. Which is basically the price for us in USD the configurator spits out when picking the car and options on the US Porsche site.

The price is already quoted to us in USD so fluctuations in currency does not apply to us here.

I guess my question is if it's reasonable and typical to ask for 6% off of that (excluding any EV tax credit from the government). I know its the norm when buying a car, but this is a new vehicle and dealers may not be willing to sell below MSRP aka list price.

There are no US sales going on...there aren't even allocations available yet.
No one can answer questions about US based discounts and lease figures YET.
Even if someone has a dealer who agreed to a discount, it's between that person and the dealership

For example I was given $2000 off my GT4 order without asking for a discount because of my long term relationship with my small Porsche dealership. I fully expected to pay MSRP given the demand for the GT4. I even ended up selling my GT4 with 2000 miles on it back to my dealership for a profit!
Meanwhile the big Porsche dealers were charging markups, or requiring you to buy something else, or holding on to a GT4 that belonged to a 918 owner for 6 months so they could sell above MSRP without getting in trouble with Porsche.

The demand exceeds the supply.
Porsche intended to make 20,000 Taycans and has at least 32,000 deposits. I don't see why any dealer would take less than MSRP (outside of a specific relationship or sales history you have with your dealer) as there will always be someone behind you willing to pay full price. Also when you are talking about a $100,000-$200,000 car a small discount doesn't make big difference to this type of clientele.

Your answer is reality and accurate. For me, specifically, it's a psychological thing. I was expecting the base price to be in the $90K range (so many rumors about the 4S being at that price all over for the past 1 year). My hope is to justify the purchase of this car by configuring it at $115K, adjusting down by $7.5K for the federal EV credit to $107.5K and then a further $5K (based on relationship with dealer) down to $102.5K plus tax. I can afford it, just trying to justify the additional $s to myself.

Would $5K - $7.5K off of MSRP (excluding the EV credit) for a $115k car be unheard of for a launch car that is in demand? There is no exact answer, i get it, but asking based on people's experience in working with Porsche and purchasing other / prior high demand Porsche cars at launch.

Based on my personal experience I don't see that happening. If you really want a Taycan in the $90k range I'd suggest wait for the Taycan 4, or a lower cost RWD model(if you don't need/want AWD) that will start at a lower price and allow you to put a few options on it.

I could maybe see that much off a $200,000+ Turbo S build for a long time customer with a lot of spend at the dealer(ie multiple GT3s, 911 Turbos, and other various Porsches over many years). Even then at this price range it is just a matter of courtesy, it's more like "it's the thought that counts, we acknowledge all the business you have given us."
Most people spending this much on a car want to customize it, want it to be exactly what they want and they are willing to pay for it. Custom and in demand never go hand in hand with discount.

At $115k for a brand new release that is one of the hottest and most talked about Porsche's in years and will be rare and turning heads everywhere it goes, I don't see that big of a discount happening if any discount at all. But I don't know you, your dealer or your relationship.
The only time I've seen that kind of discount advertised is when my dealer had a new 911 with in a loud color combined with a manual transmission that had been sitting on the lot for a long time and they needed to move it to make room for new models.

Also I don't understand your comment "adjusting down by $7.5K for the federal EV credit to $107.5K"
I don't want to assume anything but the way you worded this sounds like you don't understand how the tax credit works.

Tax credits work via filing taxes. IRS for 8936 or something (can't recall) and settled via ones tax return. It wouldn't be off of the purchase price at time of purchase. I get that.

Appreciate your input and point of view on the matter. The purchase price will be MSRP.

honestly, I’d recommend you wait another year and buy a lightly used one. Finding high end Porsche will barely used mileage is pretty easy. I expect the taycan will depreciate quickly. It’s technology is changing quickly. Or wait another year and buy the base model. Waiting will give you a lot of options around price. Plus a new Tesla and new Audi e-tron, for comparison shopping.

But if you lease, then it is taken directly from price and effectively reducing your monthly payments

I'm not expecting anything off MSRP, but if you're a 'loyal customer', then you should expect a fair trade-in value.

Order placed with dealer and understand for sure it is not confirmed by factory but I have attached the specs.
