Yes its the final body of the normal Taycan….. and most probably all variants...…. there is a small sliver of hope that they will have a wider body version for the "turbo" like they have had traditionally for the 911....However, since the 911 is now going for a single body type I am no longer as sure about that secondary body style for a more muscular Taycan…… Sad to say, considering I find only two Porsches of today sexy and that is the Macan and yes of course the 911 old and new. I really hope that we might be surprised but I highly doubt it for all the good economic and functional reasons possible, and sadly not for a singular emotional design reason......

Those calipers are bigger than my head! Curious though, why would you need such massive brakes in an EV since the regenerative braking does so much of the braking? For track use?
PCCB offer significant weight reduction so that could be one reason.

Exactly.
It wouldn't make sense, especially when the world is switching to electric and you'd better be in that market, also cuz it takes huge investments.
I highly doubt Porsche wants to sell us an electric Panamera...

I've recieved a prospect folder cuz I've put down a deposit and it highlights the Taycan as shown in the form of the Mission E, only with mirrors present.
It would be wierd to present a totally normal EV instead of a spectacular electric sportscar.
That really doesn't make sense.

I agree with you. The teaser-pictures from the folder show the final car. But they don't show the Mission E. They look exactly like the test mule when you take away the camouflage :)
It will have four regular doors and it will have the typical Porsche silhouette, so in this way it will look like a Panamera, logically...
If it was a good idea to promote it this way with the Mission E Concept? I don't know, but at least they showed something to the public and it's obvious that they won't show the final product. Yes maybe it will be a letdown for some people but there will be more than enough people to buy this car anyway.

Interesting sensor suite: radar, camera (hopefully not mono, but maybe given opening at the top-middle of windshield) and ultrasonics?
This should be pretty close to the final front design. So it's all a little toned down but still really good looking.

If you look at the front and you compare it to the Cross Turismo prototype front you will see that they are VERY similar. When I was at the Cross Turismo reveal last March they also said that its front and dashboard were VERY close to production...……

And by the way I am still fairly optimistic that it will look/drive good/well enough to buy. Just a little bummed that It MOST PROBABLY will not be my ultimate dream car that I had hope it would be..... :)

A lot
Indeed, I think the Cross Turismo is the more production-ready interior.
Also note the more realistic steering wheel and center console.

With so many displays in the car I can't wait till we see OLEDs being used - or even better MicroLEDs.

No backlights necessary and perfect black levels. This will improve the experience in the night.

After seeing these pictures I am ripping up my reservation paperwork. This version does not come even close to the concept IMO. It’s a shorter version of the Panamera ( minus the power plant, of course). Looks average at best. I’d pay $125k all day for something close to the
Concept car! Very disappointed.
Agreed.
Followed all since 2014......Design Team originally did a beautiful job.
Marketing and Blume threw it out the window.

Essentially
Audi TT...for the most part.
Yep......918 as well as i8 Bimmer.......there are more.
It takes guts and commitment to the core idea that you pay your Design Dept for.
By the end of 2017 this became a sell-out to go after the EV market........not build a truly next-gen Pcar.

This is still a prototype, why not wait to see what the actual production version looks like.

I’m an active member of this forum, #27 on the list at my dealer in Chandler Az. I share the excitement and anticipation of this bold move by Porsche. But a headline in today's LATimes gives me serious pause : Trump has 90 days to decide on possible 25% tariff on autos from EU manufacturers. German vehicles, I.e Porsche, MB, and VW in his sights. Any thoughts?

Protectionism is great when you have an automotive industry yourself.
It fits perfectly into Trump's plan.
I'm afraid the EU and in particularly China are not giving in as "we" are more into trading with a little thing called "respect", Trump doesn't have that.
He's just using the power he's achieved to make his point (also see the state of emergency he has called for).
Doesn't work.
Not in this trade war.
I think you'll end up paying a bit more for your Porsches.
Or you wait until the upcoming election in 2020...

I agree.
Best policy is to just continue with the trade deficit.....as others have done for years.
Eventually someone else will probably deal w/it.....I guess.
No sense in making others in the world unhappy w/us.....safer to just be played.

I’m afraid you’re right. Trump is a moron and he will certainly seize on this issue. He claims buying Porsche’s and MB is a threat to National Security. We’re living in Alice’s Wonderland here in the US
