It means he’s not fully sold on the idea of owning/using an EV.

I’m feeling a bit the same way. It’s the future for now, but it’s yet far from perfect (Tesla has a big lead of course). Then there’s the emotion... If I could afford it I’d buy a Panamera over a Taycan (EVs are tax free in Norway). The engine noise and gear change alone is worth it :D
Even ICE cars are far from perfect. And, if you're in need of the noise and gear changes, there's tons of cheap options for a weekend car.

This fear or whatever it is in this group is very manchild-like. The car will be great. A major manufacturer like Porsche isn't gearing up this much hype and mystery for the car to be a flop.

Think about it. This is the first venture into a full EV. This is also going head to head with Tesla, regardless of the fact that they're not making it a comparison. On top of that, it's going to be the first luxury/sports EV going into mass production. Why would they let it be bland, especially when the concept is the exact opposite.

I suspect the car will be very much like a 4 door 911, rather than an electric Panamera, like people are losing their panties over.

Full disclosure. I'm no brand loyalist. I own a Macan GTS, E92 M3, MK1 Volkswagen Cabriolet and a Jeep TJ.

Keep your shit together, gentlemen.

Yeah, the Taycan's proportions and dimensions alone mean that it'll actually look really sporty and sleek - very similar to the Audi E-tron GT.

And judging by the teaser of the Taycan, the wide rear haunches will remain, and the best detailing on the Mission E seems to have made it across to the Taycan

The exactly proportions of the Taycan are:
height: 1,38
length: 4,96

Best Regards
That’s very close to Model S dimensions, just a bit shorter and a bit less tall (almost wrote shorter again, which I guess would be true..)
Definitely interested in width, track, and wheelbase dimensions as well.

The Model S is a very wide car. IIRC it’s 20 cm wider than a «normal» car.

That goes for every manufacturer and model.

And of course it will be great but I can understand people are not looking for an electric Panamera, including myself.
Although I'm a bit less enthusiastic I think I can adapt to this new Porsche EV.
Still curious about the end result though.

Besides, aren't we all full-grown childeren whose toys became more expensive?
Of course the concept is much wilder but THE reason people put down a deposit after all.
I'm sure the Taycan will be a great car.
I'm not sure if I want it anymore, we'll see...

It's a 10mm shorter than a Model S, and a whopping 65mm lower to the ground (a Tesla Model S is 1445mm high) - you'll be able to easily tell the difference in height between a Taycan and a Model S. If you want an idea of dimensions, check out the Audi E tron (has almost identical dimensions) - or consider that it's the same height as a Ford Mustang whilst being almost 200mm longer. I hope it will also be at least the same width as the E-Tron

It has at least my mind a little at ease but a lot will still depend on the detailing, and the teaser shows the Taycan has very wide haunches.

What does that even mean?
What I mean that if I don’t care for the looks of an EV I would rather have a ICE car. I think in the next couple of years there will be substantial upgrades in both the battery capacity and electric motor efficiency. So unless I am overwhelmed with the design of the EV I will wait for increased efficiencies.

I'll have to look at an prototype.
But overall width is about 1,96 m.

Same as the Audi E-Tron GT! Actually, think of it, all the dimensions you've posted seem identical to the Audi E-Tron GT concept, which is very reassuring for those of us who want the Mission E to look very sexy, sleek and sporty - like a four-door 911.

Same width as a Tesla Model S too, but worth remembering much lower to the ground

The Model 3 Performance edition has a wheelbase of 2.88m and it weighs 1850kg.
So the Taycan should weigh about the same, maybe less...
Why do I say this?
I want to know what Porsche means by 0-100 in <3,5s.
So, a Model 3 Performance version has 450hp and does 0-100 in 3.2s (tested).
I'm guessing a Taycan is the same weight but 600hp.
So it'll do 0-100 in about 3.0s.
And of course, the overall performance will be better.

They will be built on the same platform, but inside VAG it’s decided that the Taycan will be set up for better handling.
