Came across this summary and perspective on the Monroe teardown: https://www.theautopian.com/manufacturing-experts-tear-down-electric-porsche-taycan-and-discover-yet-another-bowl-of-spaghetti/.
If VW/Audi ever finish their second generation EV platform (planned for the Macan), I would expect it...
After almost exactly four months waiting in port, I picked up my Taycan GTS yesterday. I had previously driven a base, and a 4S back in 2020. The GTS is seriously quick, and the "Sport Sound" gets pretty angry when the accelerator is floored. I find the ride quality and overall comfort quite...
Mine’s been stuck in Benicia since early June, with a bogus delivery time of August 29th now, I’m sure it will be three months sitting in Benicia before I’ll see it, and it sat in Emden for six weeks before it sailed out.
Sadly, no. TYD just updated again to expected delivery date of August 29th. I don't believe it, and expect it will be in September, but at this rate, could be October. It arrived in Benicia June 13th, having just missed the March 31st transport out of Emden to leave on May 5th. I understand...
My GTS has been in Benicia since June 14th, with a Hold Sale waiting on a software update. Also going to Porsche Marin. Last date to transport is July 26th, which hasn’t changed on TYD since. There are thousands of cars waiting on an update I’m told, and they’re not being processed quickly. I’m...
TYD keeps pushing me out, now July 27th, but at least I got an answer as to why: It ends up, it is a "hold sale" condition and it needs a software update before it can be released. I had heard this, but didn't understand why the long delay (from early June). Ends up, they just released the...
Perhaps venting to Porsche NA would have helped, but I presume that it won't be far behind. Presumably, they're doing arbitrary delays.
As it happens, I'm traveling for the next week, anyway.
No update on my GTS sitting in Benicia headed for Porsche Marin. TYD still shows July 11 to be en-route for a July 12 delivery. It seems like they're undoing a log jam in batches.
Congratulations on yours coming through.
I had waited since February 2022 for a GTS ST allocation that never came.Went with the GTS sedan configuration after giving up on the ST when the dealer had a (then April) allocation. No complaints on wait to build, although it was delayed a couple of times. Just missed a March 31st boat out of...
Similar for me, ordered January 3rd 2023, build complete March 21, at Emden March 31, Left May 5th, arrived Benicia June 13th (after inexplicable delays), now due to me July 12th. Excuse was "Software update", but likely some other unspecified issue (how long can a software update really take?)...
My SA told me it was a software update, but I often have more up to date information than he does. My guess is that "software update" is shorthand for "issues we don't really want to discuss further; you'll get the car when we're ready to hand it over."
TYD just pushed me into July, from June. Car has been in Benicia since June 13th, and I originally expected delivery by tomorrow (June 24th), but apparently it needs a software update, and that takes several more weeks. Car built in March, and has had a long saga waiting in different places...
TYD updated for me too. Car's been in port in Benicia since June 13th, and I was told I'd see it soon, but later that it was needed a software update (no Stop Sale, anyway). Now scheduled for July 11th. I can't imagine that it takes that long for a software update. Original allocation was for...
Looks like the end of this week, at the earliest, which is what TYD says; no stop sale, but it needs a software update before it can be released to the dealer. Build was submitted January 3rd, and completed manufacturing on March 28th. Didn't get shipped until May 5th, and spent longer than...
Just when I was about to think something was seriously wrong, it shows as arriving in Benicia on the 13th, which tracks with my independent tracking of the vessel, but has it at the dealer on the 14th, which clearly didn't happen. SA expects it early next week, though. The TYD site is really...
Although TYD hasn't updated for me just yet, the Glovis Superior made it to Benicia last night, having missed its scheduled arrival on June 9th (which was after the predicted June 4th arrival). It spent several days anchored off of San Francisco for some unknown reason, probably missed its...
I'm on the same boat; Based upon predicted lag, earliest is June 19th, then whatever else it takes based upon potential Stop Sale. I don't think they'll really know until it's actually at the dealer. Mine finished manufacture on March 28th, so hoping nothing much is left for a hold.
The Glovis Superior, which left Emden on May 5th is now in the Pacific and en-route to Benicia, Expected to arrive June 9th, four days later than the TYD site originally indicated.
