Those rear tail lights are way too large (and thus ugly)...

New review from co-pilot at FOS : https://de.motor1.com/news/358670/mitfahrt-im-porsche-taycan-2019/

Main points:

- charging at both (!!) sides of the car
- no frames around windows
- a lot of cockpit displays and touchscreens
- looks sleak
- rear seats comfortable - even with 1,88cm
- touch sensor for automatic opening the charging lid
- car start like warp speed from Star Trek
- nice sound

conclusion : more a 4-door 911 than anything else

There was the same mix of opinions with the 992 release. We watched the car for over 2 years, with bits of camo coming off here and there. In the end, that was the body of the car we'd been seeing all that time....
of course you are absolutely right and we all thought that the “mules” looked heavy and not as well proportioned as the 991.2 but in the end it became the sharpest looking 911 in the modern era........ so I think we just have to wait and see for the final outcome until we pass judgment. the body pannels major shapes are what we see but the body wrap is hiding other nooks and creases which will add to the design. in the photo above the car looks much more compact that non previous photos..... are these foreshortened or have all the other “official’ ones been elongated to keep us guessing.........

Lower CoG.
0-60 times.
And it's a Porsche.
Dee............I appreciate the humor & the banter here is fun.
I had to Google CoG and I got...."a wheel or bar with a series of projections on its edge".
0-60......well darn....guess I've never drag-raced my cars.......Club Racing has always seemed more challenging......like anyone can put their right foot into it in a straight line.
And.......yep, definitively made in Zuffenhausen. :)

Lol @GreggT!
Every technical driver knows what CoG is.
It's Center of Gravity (or centre of mass as weight is defined by gravity).
It's something that Porsche is proud of and use it as an advert, like the 0-60 times, 911 Turbo territory...
That's why I got this. ;)

Understood.........should have caught that......and the good Dr P was often quoted as saying the best place for CoG on a vehicle is.......'under the pavement'. :)

.....been driving 911s for 30 years........with all due respect, what on earth does this have in common w/a 911? :surprised:

Gregg ... with all due respect, why do you think he was co-pilot at FOS hill climb and not you? :giggle:

By the way .. he ended with a quotation from Jean Jaurès (not Gustav Mahler): Tradition is not the veneration of ashes but spreading the fire

Well, to be fair: GreggT has a point, of course.
As long as a Taycan doesn't do (at least) a 7:56 of the Panamera Turbo S driven by Walter Röhrl at the Ring it's not even close to be a 4-door 911.
0-60 numbers at the Ring isn't going to give you a laptime either.
Still, "under 8 minutes", which Porsche claims, should come near the 7:21.2 which is the 2019 record of the production 4-door saloon Jaguar XE SV Project 8...
I couldn't find any exact numbers on the Tesla Model S but let's say it just can't.

Brw, it's nice to see some laptimes as of today's list under "lap times":
