Winter tires and Carplay - looking for details

    I ordered the Turbo with Mission E wheels and would prefer to also use these in winter and avoid forking out another €6K for separate winter wheels. My dealer can't confirm to me that winter tires exist for them. Does anybody here have info on Mission E wheel winter tires? Do any of the other wheels support both winter and summer tires?

    Also, I ordered the passenger display but my dealer can't confirm if it will show Carplay and thus let the passenger operate my Spotify and Waze. If the passenger display only works with the built-in Porsche satnav and Apple Music it has less use for me. Does anybody here have info on that?

    I saw a video that mentioned the passenger display. But I can’t remember the specifics - sorry. It did say it had less functionality than the main display. They seemed a bit disappointed.

    The Mission E Wheels come shod with 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear. Tire Rack has Pirelli snow tires of that size in their catalog. (currently backordered, but not surprising given the time of year). You might want to sit down before reading the price... are you sitting... a set of tires (NOT wheels and tires) is US$2,597.90. $633 front & $665 rear, each.

    I believe one of the reviewers said that CarPlay itself couldn’t do a second screen. I can;t find the source now so maybe that’s hearsay.

    Soto 240 Serie II (N1 or N2) are still my preference in a winter Porsche tire.......& I've pretty much tried them all.
    Here in upper midwest a good winter (snow) tire makes winter driving a hoot.

    That said.......I have custom winter fitments for all cars........two reasons, #1. mount/removal on one rim twice a year will eventually take it's toll on expensive rims....no matter what care is taken....and #2. I have never subscribed to use of the wide winters (especially in the rear) that Porsche details. My rims are either custom offset or are spaced to be right where I want them in the fender and wheel arch. A narrower 'true snow' performance tire is the ideal......in some cases I even go down an inch in wheel size.....all the time researching the correct front-rear running diameter differential....which is critical.

    305 is way too wide in the rear for snow going IMHO.
    Porsche has winter specs for the Taycan........and even Porsche has their recommended winter tire spec down a bit......to 285/40 in the back (11J) and 245/40 (9J) in the front.....20s, down from 21.

    Thanks for the tips! I will follow your advice and buy the winterfitments. I just think the Mission E rims I bought look way nicer than the standard winter rims Porsche has on offer for the Taycan... too bad to only get to show them in summer :)
